I just bought a K&N filter brand new - model YA-3502 for my 2001.

I also bought a pro-flow adapter plate off ebay. When I place the filter over the oval flange of the adapter plate there is way too much space between the flange and the filter (> .5").

I tried cranking down the clamp to close the gap but after a while it starts to pinch the filter edge and the connection still isn't tight.

So I start thinking that maybe I have the wrong size - either filter or adapter plate.

The K&N model number checks out - it even lists "Banshee 87+" on the box. The adpater plate I have no idea.

Anyone experience this problem?

What size should the adapter plate be?

thx

You probably got a pro design filter adapter made for a foam filter not the K&N. These things happen when you order stuff off ebay (say it's one thing and it turns about being something else).

You have the right filter YA-3502 K&N but you may have the wrong plate.

The filter does have a round opening and the plate is oval but I do not know the measurements on the plate.

You might contact Noss Machine and maybe David will give you some info.

Just to follow up.

It was the wrong plate.

Tried to replace it with a new one.

I ended up running out of time for the new years trip, so I just cut the stock filter cage, removed the foam from the plastic plate, bolted the plastic plate to the box a la the pro-flow and clamped the k&n to the plastic lip.

Worked great. I may forget the pro-flow all together.

thx
