First of all, everyone should know that I DON'T do jetting. But I'm going to have to soon because I changed pipes. I took the ol' girl for a ride today and she was flat on top wide open in 6th. Usually it's not a problem.

I don't know what my jetting is right now so an idea of where to go from here would be great.

Mods...

Stock bore, Boyeson reeds, Stock carbs bored to 28MM. 2:1 filter, Trinity pipes and silencers. Any help is much appreciated.

sounds rich on the main jets.if you run a airbox, try running without the lid on. if the bog goes away you need to jet down.+do a w.o.t. plug chop in 6th,it will tell the story.

Hi Holyman, You have several things to conceder here at once. First you have improved the intake and the exhaust. Second the temp is way down. So what would I do? Well lets say the average temp on a spring, summer, fall day is 75 to 80, and now you are at 30. Thats a drop of 50, so raise the jets 3 points. Thats going one point per twenty degrees. I know its not 60 but better to go a little rich. Now the intake and exhaust. Go up atleast 2 on the improved filter and up to 8 on for the exhaust. That makes 3 +2+8 = 13 points richer. That makes it about 340s. I figured you had 220s for stock.

But try this first (number 32 on Benbs jetting fax) the old pop the choke on the first notch trick. Warm up the motor and pull out the choke to first click and see if it runs better. If it does you need to go richer.

This information was take from Bens jetting fax. So if any of it helps thank him!! ;)

I think you are lean if anything. If you did some mods to help out the exhaust and/or the intake, than you need to richen up the jetting. And with the temp. change, it is emminent....

Thanks for the tips guys but how about this...

I've always run the Toomey 2:1 filter with T5's and a Hush kit. I never messed with the jetting and rode from HOT summers to 10 below zero for hours.

So the only real change I made was the pipes from T5's to the Trinity's.

Oh and I switched from 40:1 Yamalube to 80:1 Amsoil.

Any new ideas? Or does everything stay about the same?

Trinity will have a different jetting then T5.....Run it wot in 6th gear for 5-10 seconds and pull the plugs...Takes about ........10 seconds.... ....and theres your answer....

Man if he's lean...... I dont know about doin' a WOT hot kill in 30 degree weather. Id like to hear what jet sizes he's got in there first. Iv heard that synthetic oils like Amsoil makes plug reading difficult, iv always been a seat-O'da-pants kinda jetting guy. Go big on the mains till it bogs then drop sizes till she's pulling 6th.

Holyman, report back with your jet sizes.

When I got the banshee it had T5's and, bored carbs, boyeson reeds and an aftermarket filter. I never messed with the jetting but I was told it had the Toomey jetting kit in it. I eventually put on a 2:1 filter and Hush kit and never messed with the jetting. I now switched to Trinity pipes and you guessed it... never messed with the jetting. All I've done to the carbs is take off the twist throttle and change the cable.

Holyman you'd be amazed at how easy jetting is! I realize that it sounds a little scary - hell its even got its own forum! Try pulling your carbs and doing what ripper said - we'll help if you need it; best to get over this fear together.
