BansheeBrian
Theres a shee owner that I meet up with every Sunday at the pit and I'm worried about him blowing up.He runs 18 domes, crank is NOT welded but he does run 100% race gas.He has about a foot of bluing up his fmf's. I just dont want him to deal with the high expense of crank failer. Not very many people know it is good practice to weld your crank before using high comp. How long does he have till crank/engine failer??
Nightrider
That all depends on the type of rider he is. My friend has a built Raptor and still runs an 01 tranny. It shows no sign of gear failure or starter problems.Believe it or not,he rides pretty hard. All depends on what your doing with it. boonman
His crank will seperate. Running race fuel is good for him because he shouldn't detonate. I don't know of any time frame, however, if the crank hasn't already begun to seperate, it will soon. The bluing on the pipes tells me there is excessive heat coming out of the exhaust ports. This is attributed to lean jetting. Not good either.....
flea49
I agree with boonman, running lean will not only ruin the crank it will ruin the top end,

.
I put my 18's in and probably 8 or 9 months later the top end went on it. My crank was still in spec so I threw in a new top end and dropped the compression down. That compression was putting out some good torque, but it just tore my engine apart. I guess I got lucky and it didnt start to separate. I guarantee if he runs it long enough either the top end or bottom end will let go.
