Toomey Banshee
My current shee is not ported or polished but the few mods that I do have make it very fast. I beat most of the other shees in the area in play drags and whatnot. My friend has his ported and polished with modified wiescos, 33 carbs, trued and welded crank, 16 tooth front sprocket and he walks by me every time, gets me by about 3 or 4 bikes, sometimes more by the time we are done dragging. Now the good news, I just bought that shee. So to answer your question, do you remember the performance gain you noticed when you first rode your shee with the pipes? Thats the same increase you will notice with your bike ported and polished. I would recommend that while you are getting it ported and polished get the crank welded as well. PassionRE
Klotz, porting is a mod that is different than any other in the fact that it can be whatever you want it to be. From mild increases in power to all out rip your arms off acceleration,top-end, whatever, its all there for the asking. Porting along with a set of decent pipes will provide more power than all other mods combined...Jim
Klotz
so..if i do get it ported and polished then should i get the crank welded.....how much does thaat cost.. thanks shane !!
PassionRE
Your crankshaft should be inspected, trued and welded if you going after serious horsepower...usually runs around $50-$75 depending on the shop your using. Particular attention should be paid to side and radial clearances on the rods. A weak crank with even slightly loose rods will let loose once you've added the additional power. If its even a possibility, you should replace the crank with a new unit and weld it from the start unless its less than about 2 years old. Sounds like overkill, but you dont want to trash out your cylinders and port job and possibly cases with a weak crank....Jim
