What size rear tires do you run? That would play a big part in gearing. I run a 14 40 gearing(rear 40 is just a blaster sprocket), with 22 inch holeshots. I dont like 22's , but they were free, but anyways. When you run taller tires, your bike will want to bog off the line if you dont rev it, so go to like a 13tooth front, or a 12. Stock gearing is 14/41. The new 450 is some good low end gearing with a 14/38 setup.

14/38 for him would be the same as 15/41 for you......i can pull 22's with a 15 up front no problem, with just bolt on stuff......the 13 is good for sand hills though, most 2 cycles do want to bog unless you rev them, its the nature of the beast......

Question about tire sizes and gearing.....I am currently running 14/41 "stock" but with 18's ITP in the rear! Have decent mods.....Question is will I loose any bottom end going up to say a 17 but keeping the 18's tires in the rear?

I am not MX'g yet, and know I can always change back, but want to be able to drag other quads and keep the powerband as good or better as it is now .... :D

Ideas?

Well my mommy took the piston out of my right side, said I only needed to run one until I got a little more experience with it. Now I have over 25 years of riding experience, I got the piston back for christmas this year, can't wait til I can test her out this evening! Most of those guys at the parts shop couldn't understand why I was only needing one plug, and one pipe, and one set of jets when I upgraded my bike. Now I have to buy the rest of the AM parts for it, shoot guess it'll be another month b4 I can get it all hooked up!

i wouldnt go higher than a 15, unless you have some decent hp i dont think you could pull a 17.....the taller gear if you can pull it gives you a little longer accelaration through your gears
