Anyone help me in the question:

what would the +'s and -"s be on regearing up or down?  How does it work?  Is it worth it?  Thanks

Gear it up to a 15 front tooth and it'll help kill the tire spin and get better traction..It'll also help acceleration where the shee has close gears already and you spend to much time shifting and not accelerating...This is for a piped shee w/ knobby tires. Sand tires require lower gearing then knobbies....

You can gear it down in the back instead of gearing up in the front....Problem is, you can only go to a 40 steel in the rear and a 39 aluminum.....Also the front is cheaper and makes more difference.. It takes 3 teeth in the rear to = 1 tooth in the front....

Ex: 14/41 is the same as 15/44

14/41 =13/38.....

I got a 44 aluminum, but I had to take the plastic block out of the skid plate. To go bigger like a 45 you have to take the plate off altogether.

ok so deffinately change the front, but how much of a differance will one tooth make .... will it deffinately be substantial? like if i go to a 15 front will i dramatically loose low end=no more wheelies :o

no now when you wheelie it wil pull longer and harder, providing youve piped the bike

Thanks for all you're comments.

Both my shees have 12 front and 41 rear (the stock setup)

The one I'm looking to make quicker is piped, ported, heads milled, etc etc etc.,

but the other day I was looking at my wifes new stock one and noticed we were both running the same configuration. I pretty much only run in the sand, should I go to a 13 or 14 or what? Thanks for your advise.

That is exactly what happened for me when I went to a 15t front tooth and kept the 41t in the rear. I LOVE IT! It does make a noticable difference in the time between gears, I don't have to shift near as quick, and am able to stay in the powerband longer. I haven't noticed any situation where having the bigger gear hurt my performance. It was one of the best mods for the money that I have done...JMO
