bigtreads
cruising ebay there seems to be alot of choices so I need some help figuring which will work best for me. My motor has PTR mid pipes piramid reeds/cages a 4 degree timing key Noss head with 21cc domes K&n filter with a drilled airbox lid. Stck carbs are currently jetted at 310's. I have no porting but by spring will have vitos pistons that give the effect of a light port job. I'm leaning tward a single carb but if I can get more action out of a set of duals I will do it. Any real world help greatly appreiciated. yes my 8 year old can spell better than me
Meat
oh man with your setup id look at 28mm or 30 mm pwk's.......... with a twist thottle !!!
Minkia38
best bang for the buck?? bore out the stockers! only costs $70 around here assembled
Screamin_Banshee
You will be surprised in the difference between 28's and stocker...IMO its little to none. The stock carb is VERY VERY under-rated. If it was me I would do like Minkia said, just get the stockers bored to a 27.5 or 28mm and save the money for other mods, or the always good alternative- BEER. bigtreads
well part of my reason for trying a different carb setup is mine have some wear and the cables are shot. So if I have to replace the cables I gotta decide bettween the single carb or the duals. So if the 28's don't make much difference does the 30's ? Getting parts here is a pain so I mostly Ebay - there just happens to be some 30's on there at the moment so I was wondering. I like the idea of changing jet's easy - which was why I was leaning tward the single but apparently it's nearly as easy with the PWK's ??? thanks Norm
Leadfoot350
Spend your money on something else right now. You are not ready for bigger carbs yet. Get the porting done first then you could get some 28 pwks.

Dragg-on
I agree with leadfoot a part of the banshee disease is when you run out of stuff to buy, you find something, bad habit! but really, bigger carbs are overated on gas . My opinion

Cotton eyed Joe
The thing about getting bigger carbs is if you aren't exactly set up for it, you can over carburate your engine, which will lead to a narrower, peaker powerband. BakoBanshee
maybe i just might try boring out my stock carbs to 28mm instead of spending on new pwk's? Where can I send my stockers to be bored out, and for how much?
H300F
talk to banchetta he ran his bike with pt mids on a dyno and tried pj34s and lost 8hp, tried bored stockers and i think lost with them. he didnt try pwk28s. put the 200 or 300 towards something else like porting. then carbs
