Fireman-hott
Would the 35mm single carb setup flow enough for a 420 big bore? what about if I upped to say a 40mm? Mild porting to the top end. 20 over Any ideas? thoughts? opinions? I'd like to run the duals but if I could stay with the bottom end and overall ease of use with the single carb in the jetting area. richwuest
i think trinity recomends the 35 for their 420 kits, but I am not sure. I would call Trinity and ask them. They do alot of 420 kits as well as the carb kits, so I sure they will send you in the right direction. I do know for sure that Trinity recomends the 33 for a stock motor and the 35 for a ported 350. I would think that the 35 would work well on a stock 420, and a 38 would be the ticket for a ported 420.
bansheeDUDE
http://www.trinityracingproducts.com/420bigborekit.html sounds like a 38mm would be the way to go.
dirtbike killer
The 33mm is on the edge for stock port. I have a 35mm on mine now, and so for its looks like its going to be the better carb. Thats on the stock port. If I were you, I would start off with at less the 38mm and go from there. I think the 35mm would starve it a little.
cam2
a friend of mine has the trinity 420 with stage IV porting and pipes. he had the single 35mm on there when he first put it together and the single 35mm couldn't feed those ported 420 jugs on the top end. he said that he couldn't really tell the difference between the single 35mm and dual 35mm's up until about 6500 rpm's or so and after that he sure as heck could tell the difference. i never ridden it with the single but i can tell you for sure that the duals let that thing eat. personally i feel that with the power and the added torque of the big bore i don't think i would bother with the single, i would put duals on it and let it eat. like others had stated before, if you stayed with stock or mild porting then you would probably be fine but with the stage IV porting you'll need the duals in order to get the best out of it. Fireman-hott
I'm thinking of getting the 35 bored out to 38-40mm. I have a set of dual 35 also, and I was just curious about the bottom end torque staying the same. Now to get a Mikuni jet kit, the intake mainfolds and the pistons. Tinking of getting the ultra light ones. and should I go with the pro design maifolds or is there any other brand that would be better.
