im assuming its like a banshee with a gear on the other end which runs off a water pump gear on the crank, id imagine it would be hard to turn, it would be like trying to rotate the crank by using the impellar am i right?
Not the same system at all. It's hard ro turn even when it's removed from the engine

They use a mechanical seal/spring assembly, so there is a lot of friction, especialy when it's new.

But since im new to that kind of system, i dont know when hard become "too hard".

there will be some resistance turning the shaft because the seals and maybe a tight fit of the bearing. from old memory of different bikes i took apart it seems like they could still turn by hand. been a while since i taken that stuff apart though
There is no way i can turn it by the shaft. I have to grab the impeller to be able to turn it
