Mmatti
I recently got a new banshee it has Toomey t5 pipes and silencer bored .20 over coolhead k an n pod filters no air box and force Reeds basically I'm just unsure of what kinda gas I should be running the guy I purchased it from said he would mix a can with 2 gallons ethanol free premium and 2 gallons race has with a 16oz bottle of redline oil just curious if that sounds like a good mix
SKEETER
Need to figure out what domes in the cool head, and/or do a proper compression test. Unless its ported, with higher compression, no need to mix race gas. Non ethanol fuel is a good idea however.
Mmatti
How would I do a proper compression test?

Ayesully810
skeet with some actual good advice, bravo. if you are at 160 psi you wanna run 100 octane if you are 155 or under you can just run straight premium. Do you have advanced timing also fyi some nerd info if you are going to mix octanes the formula to figure out octane is A. octane rating (110) x percent mixed (.4) = X (44) + B. octane rating (93) x percent mixed (.6) = Y (99.8), Then add the sums of A and B thats the formula using a standard 5 gallon can. 16 oz of oil with that would be a 40:1 premix ratio Edited June 25, 2019 by Ayesully810
Mmatti
I dont know about the advanced timing the guy I got it from didnt say anything about that I usually mix 32:
SKEETER
Pull stator cover off, the timing plate is behind stator, you'll see #s if aftermarket and advance able, stock might be notched holes to get +4 timing

Mmatti
So I Did a comp test today came out at 140 both cylinders were like the exact same haven't checked timing yet but both cylinders matched so that's a plus so I wonder if I'd be good to just run premium? Or is non ethanol premium better? It seems like i dont need to run race gas and premium like the previous owner said
SKEETER
Non ethanol premium would be ideal. You dont need race fuel.
Mmatti
Okay perfect is non ethanol premium sold at gas stations? Or usually where you can find race gas? I've never bought it before
Keno
Premium is almost always ethanol free, or at least it is in Kansas and Oklahoma.
SKEETER
Just depends on your area. In Oregon probably 1 out of 10 have ethanol free premium. Call around, see who's closest.
Ayesully810
i wish. i sure hope the premium here is non eth. apparently if you pour a certain amount of water into gas the ethanol with separate to the bottom and then you can syphon it out from the bottom, guess it lowers the octane level though idk. saw it in some youtube video prolly saying it wrong Edited June 27, 2019 by Ayesully810
