ZIGGYBAM
...so recently just got my shee back up and running after some wrench time...i took the coolant overflow tank off..when i start it and its running, i notice a little coolant leaks out of the hose i cut and zipped to the frame...should i be concerned about it running out and overheating? Seems like everyone who runs open air filters cuts these out and has no issues...i was thinking of buying a billet overflow, but if i dont need one, im not going to do it... Keno
No biggie. It'll just expel any excess at running temp. As the coolant gets heated, it expands and has to go somewhere. The reservoir was there to catch the overflow and return it to the system as it cooled. Now, instead of the reservoir, it just vents to the ground and sucks air back into the radiator as it cools. It's not a big deal. Once the engine gets up to operating temp, the air is expelled instead of excess coolant. tl;dr It's fine. It'll stop dripping coolant after a ride or two. ginger
i made a bracket to hold the collant recovery tank in the front of the frame so i didnt have to worry about it.
