coleman66six
Ok well I have been riding for a few days now, prolly 6 hours on new top end. I have had no problems and it runs strong. I get 130 for comp at 800ft and the leak down test was good only lost a little bit of pressure at 6psi for 6 mins. But last night, I was riding earlier that day at about 8:00 pm and it was running perfectly fine in about 60 F weather. I decided to go to the bar / gas station we have in my small town and hang out. I was there until about 12:00 in the morning. It was 46 F when I left. I let the quad warm up for about 5 mins since I was riding earlier that day. Then I headed home on the highway. Only rode it for about 3 mins (I live really close). Basically the quad would not idle down whenever it was revved it acted like the throttle stuck and I had to turn the key off and on for it to idle down. I had to stay in 1st the whole time. So I thought it was just the cold weather but I started it today when it was 65 F and it is still doing it. The thumb throttle goes back and returns properly but it acts like it’s stuck and just stays idled up for about 1-3 seconds. My jetting looks good to me, dark brown on the plugs. I had no clue why this would just randomly happen after sitting for 4 hours??? I have a ride on Memorial Day so hopefully it’s something small. What do you guys think? Thanks. Here is a video of what it is doing, you can hear how it will get stuck revved up.
coleman66six
Just wanted to add, when I was in the bar it got wet I could see water on the quad. I have read on multiple sites with stock carbs sometimes water can cause this to happen, not sure if this is my problem but I have read to take out the slides and clean them and put a little grease on them. Will be trying this.
gusto
Pull off your filters so you can see you slides and work the throttle to see if your slides/cable is sticking. Check your cable route and make sure it’s slack. im heading out of town, good luck with your problem. Sure others here will help

coleman66six
Well, I decided to pull the filters off and look in the carbs, the slides never get stuck. But I did notice the idle screws were off quite a bit from each other. So I adjusted them so they were even and I have not had the problem since, Idk if this fixed it or something else, but yea. I only use the tool to sync them at idle part throttle you can basically eye it. if its staying idled up like that for 1-3 seconds, and there are no air leaks, reeds are good and cable is fine, run your air fuel screw all the way in, then put it at a half turn out, see if that helps, stock pilot? 25 Edited May 25, 2019 by Ayesully810

I have my carbs synced also. Like I said I am not having the problem now, I am not sure why this was happening or what caused it. I just adjusted my idle screws and it went away, maybe coincidence. Also I ran my air screw in earlier and it sounded way to rich, I already have it jetted rich anyway. My air screws are 2 1/2 turns out. Thanks for the reply and help. Ayesully810
sounds like it was your idle screws. make sure that lock nut on it is tight, but dont strip it. loctite helps
