Boostwhipped
Hey guys I have my first banshee I've had it 6 months now always been a solid bike and ran great then today I took it out once it got warm ran great for 10-15min then it started acting weird. It died on me and took me alittle while to get it started again once i did rode it for a few min ran great then all of a sudden it died again got it started to head back to truck then I heard a clunking noise and died again and now the kick start wont even turn. So did the motor just lock up on me or any other ideas?
97Screamer
Yes your motor is likely locked up. You can pull the clutch cover to look for anything out of place to be sure but it sounds like the symptoms of needing a rebuild.
Boostwhipped
That's what I was afraid of. I was thinking this was my first ride sense I replaced radiator hose on the back side of the cool head. Maybe it over heated?
SKEETER
Sounds like it overheated. Pull the head off and you'll know.
97Screamer
I don't know why a radiator hose replacement would cause it to overheat, more likely an air leak.
Boostwhipped
Either way sounds like I need to replace the topend, if the motor locked up will I need to replace the bottom end to or just the topend?

ginger
honestly, if you want to get more mid range, a 4 mil stroker crank will help. also port work is the best bang for your buck.

Ayesully810
Id pull the clutch cover first, fastest way to see if its something on the clutch side if not then most likely bigger problems
Boostwhipped
I'll pull the clutch cover tomorrow and my budget I would like to keep under a grand
Boostwhipped
I just took the clutch cover off and checked it all out. The oil was filthy and dark grey but other then that nothing else I see wrong. The kicker engages to the other gear but just wont turn it. I'm guessing the motor is locked up then?
