badluckshee
long story, short... bought bike march this year, had shipped, recieved in great shape... trying to register this freakin' bike, with A POWDER COATED FRAME.... have all doc's, shipping papers, bank repciets, bill of sale,(from state where no title was required) went to MY state motor vehicle division to reg it, they wont give me a title or even reg it till i prove its had a clear vin... (been powdercoated over) well, to try and get a vin, i very carefully sanded off powdercoat (RUINING IT)to get the orig vin, they(dmv)said its not clear enough. they also said the only way to title this now is to have a repciet from a legit business ,from a wrecking yard/ or some business that could verify the sale... no vin # required ON THE RECPIET...... even after i had a police run the #'s on the frame that are very legible., it came back clear... NOT STOLEN, which should be enough proof....so i thought...can anyone FIND me a bogus repciet ....no names needed, maybe a copy of someone's repciet from around the first of the year(2003)........for a frame....prefered payed cash?!? what's needed in short.... PLEASE HELP! A recpiet for a 96-99 banshee frame, must have a business name with phone #, with the abiltiy that if someone was to try and verify that a frame was sold.... with or without vin# on the recpiet and maybe a traceable recpiet #.... name can be blacked out... i don't care... east coast prefered... maybe i'll be able to ride it again.....i really dont understand what they are trying to prove....typical gov't bs...e-mail me at : xlg400@comcast.net
Blue Duece
sounds pretty shitty to me, you can find alot of stuff on the HQ a title might not be one of them though.......just ride it
badluckshee
i dont need a title, i just need a recpiet bogus or not from someone that can verify that they sold a frame ... a junk yard recpiet would be best....
badluckshee
also! i'd love to ride it, i was told without registration the local pigs would impound it if i rode it ....not worth losing the bike....
Blue Duece
that blows man have you got the pink slip.....if you were in cali that would be all you need at the dmv.....and if i were to go out and ride with no regie the man would ticket me, unless of course i was in the street then he could impound it....thats some shitty rules seems like they makem as they go along
evil
damn, that sucks. you might want to go back to the dmv and talk with someone else, or even a hand written bill of sale from the person you bought it from might work. not sure of the rules and regs where you live so its hard to say. good luck man, later
frocashmoney24
same thing happened to me, i live in ny where you need one, but f*ck it i ride it anyway, i mostley race on tracks anyway
Wassup350
Those DMV people can be good for nothing thats ridiculous. It's not a freakin life or death matter if the god damn vin isn't perfectly legible. I don't know what to say though that sucks.
fixitrod
In Indiana, the police can write up a vin inspection saying they read it, ran it and it's not stolen. It's $5 and you that's all you need to prove the vin. See if that's possible there in ny.
dogboystoy
sounds like the NY DMV to me. I went through all of their crap when I moved out here 2 years ago.
chase73
You can allways buy a frame of ebay with title and use those #,s to register it and then sell your frame on ebay and hopfully someone like in cali will buy it so they dont need title or dont care. There is not much else you can do unless the guy that sold it to you has a old registration to it .
got1banshee
I would still be very carfull. I bought a banshee about 3 months ago that came out of a state that didn't require a title. I called the HWY Patrol and had them transfer me about 5 times and finaly got the numders (vin) ran. Came back clean, so I bought it. About 3 weeks later I have the cops pull me over and said that they have resson to believe that the ATV that I have on my trailor it stolen. I didn't think anything about it because I had the numbers ran, well about 12 cop cars showed up and told me that I had a stolen ATV on my hands. The basterds areted me and took me to the cop shop. The detective told me that he knows where I got the atv not to worry to just tell him the truth, so I told him that I bought it from this kid and his father. After about 2 or 3 hours they tell me that the 16 year old kid bought 3 ATVs with stolen checks, I bought this on from him not knowing any of this. The cops let me go, another week past and about 9 at night I get a knock at my door. Guess who?? Cops, I have a warrent out for my arest with a 10,000 dollor bond for 3 stolen atvs. I pay them there money I get out about an hour and a half later. The next day go and talk to an atterny, the atterny just so happens that he knows the Detective. He calls the cop (detective) talkes to him and finds out that the kid is 16 juvinial can't do much to him so makes a deal that if he testafies that I new about the atvs than he would be clean. Now Here I am a hard working guy trying to run my own company, raise my family, try to get some fun in my life by buying a Banshee and I get fucked. I spend 2000 on the bike, 40% bond $4000 and the atterny want $5000 to get everything dropped. I have spent 6 grand already and now I have to have my atterny 3 grand in the next 6 weeks or I can get 15 to 20 years in jail. 3 grand that I don't have!!!!!!!! SO BE CARFULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am thinking about make a web site to like that one chick with all the credit card bills asking for donations haha j/k
