trayfoe
Here is the break down, My shee was down for almost 2 months. Put the pipes on her today with the new filters and decide to start her up because i haven't in a while. First she starts right up but only the right cylinder is firing. So I toss the old plugs for some new ones, kick her over again and shee starts up, runs for a second and then shuts off. Once more I kick her over, she runs and then dies. And that was all shee wrote. I tried for like 30 minutes, taking the plugs out and blowing the gas out of the cylinders. One thing I did notice is that the whole time she wouldn't start I could smell gas real bad. Any suggestions?
locogato11283
for the hell of it i would check the hose that connects the 2 carbs. if thats off it wont run worth shit. was the gas smell coming from gas leaking out an overflow? with my cr500 banshee sometimes when its really cold its stubborn to start. i have someone pull me so i dont foul a bunch of plugs. you might have some1 pull u if u can, it might be easier than having to kick it over 30 times with no start. possibly something electrical disconnected? just some ideas. evil
trey, did you jet it after the new pipes and filter ? how did the new set of plugs look after you took them out ?

Not yet, I just wanted to start her because shee hadn't run for over a month. I wasn't planning or ridding it, just letting it run for a bit. BansheeBrian
Might as well rejet and that will give you a valid excuse to dig into your carbs and solve your problem.Rejetting for your pipes is extremely important!
evil
yeah dude, id say start right there and more than likely it will fix the problem. stock jets dont have enough for the pipes to even let it run at idle. later
trayfoe
Well, messed with it tonight and there is no spark from the plugs? Any ideas? We held the spark plugs against the head bolts and kicked it over and no spark....
trayfoe
Ok, dragged her around on the street to try and pull start her and nothing. Then we tried it with the throttle wide open because I had not put any jetts in since the pipes and filter. Got her to idle @ WOT, so I will be getting some jets in the morning and trying this again. Oh and the no spark was from the throttle switch being disconeted, twisted the wires together and wa-la!
boonman
I had not put any jetts in This could not be a good thing... Anyways, I noticed that your bike is sucked down in the front. Are your floats at a correct level? If they are narginally high, than you could be dumping fuel into the cylinder(s). Also, take the little black box, which is located under the fuel tank, adjacent from the ignition coil, it has a 3 wire connector. Unplug it. it is the brain for the TORS. If there is something tripped that it doesn't like, it won't let the bike run properly....
