lol, hey meat, I think you outta start building that campsite as soon as the weather breaks. You've got a great big riding area with lots of different variations of riding and a little bit of everything. With it being a whole weekend thing do you think you could find a place that is truck accessible? We'd have to carry gas, clothes, food, water, beer, spare tires, etc etc etc. and it would just be 20 times easier if you could get to it with a truck.

And if someone doesnt have a truck or a 2wd s-10 or something that cant make it back, they could always park it at your house and then we could load everything up in my truck or something and bring it down.

Shit.....I'm already ready to call in sick on a friday to get there early.

we wouldnt be leaving our truck overnite in the strippins, we'd be camping with them, but during the day it would be. I've never had a problem anywhere with anyone messing with my stuff, I just dont bring anything valuable and put tools and stuff that could be easily taken in the truck. If theirs any more worries bring a long chain and a lock and run it through your gas cans and extra wheels and such and wrap it around your axle or frame of your truck.

I'll be bringing one cooler for alcohol, and another cooler for food for the weekend.

is this "Coal Fest: going to be held in summer, spring or winter (now)?

If it is going held in spring or summer I can bring 3 guys plus myself no doubt...

The problem is my Shee and my friends shee are both down for "winter touchups"

and my jugs arent back from being ported yet....

So when is it going to be ?

It wont happen until the weather clears, I'd say late spring when the nights are coming in around 60 degrees and the days are in the 70's-80's. Depends how the rainy season goes and so forth.

How many weeks notice do you guys need to have a weekend go at something like this? I'd like to have a rain date setup go on that if it looks like its gonna definitely rain all weekend we could push it off until the next weekend

hazelton is about an hour away, philly is more like 3+ hours away. Iv heard of Drums and Larksville, but im not sure exacty where they're at.

I'm going to recruit a few of my freinds(drag em away from thier women) to help find and make a nice safe place to camp. Maybe, ahem, one of my buds will post to this thread so we can figure out where to camp. Im thinking, the woods near "The Canyon" would be nice and secluded. You could drive back there with a truck, its got a killer swimming hole\lake and its pretty far off the beaten path.

I too would like to see this happen in the summer time. Nice 85+ degree June or July day. The 4th of July weekend the strippins gets packed with offroaders, its crazy up there on that weekend. That weekend also brings the cops around.

Gotta remember, this place is a little rough. Your gonna find some rocks and ruts, prolly run over a little glass and whatnot so everyone should bring a can of fix-a-flat and some plugs. Run the strongest rims you own. There's one worthy bike shop in the area, about 20 miles out of town called Gap Racing if you'd need to buy oil or whatever. But the place is almost always closed and its never open on the weekends, so bring everything you need. 94 octane sunoco gas is available, but race gas is not, bring your own race gas. Everyone bring some good food, i'll cut up a few soupies and bring some killer deer burgers. First case of Yuengling Lagers in on me. As for letting the vehicals sit unattended, i'll try to get a camp babysitter. I have a few freinds that dont ride, so maybe they can watch the campsite, fry up some burgers, get a fire going, get shitfaced etc etc while we're out riding. Boonman Im buyin the Yuengling so get your married beer swizzlin' ass down here.

Wondering, have you guys ever heard of Knoebles amusement park ? Knoebles is 10 miles down the road from my place. Top notch camping there, big amusement park with 3 giant rollercoasters and every ride you can think of.

Ok this is the first time I've had a chance to read this topic. I'm all for it!

I dont remember if we ever did a Coalfest last year, so why dont we make it this year?

I need some info on where Hazelton or Shamokin is located from Palmerton. More than likely I'll be coming w/ someone else that has ridden some of the places mentioned. I say we pick an off weekend so that local authorities arent an issue. As for Boonman... I'll send someone to hunt him down if he backs out of this trip. I wont know when will be a good time for me until I get back from Dumont, so if we can hold off picking a date until the middle of March. That would be great.
