Bambi
when i go wot for 10-15 sec, then release the throttle, it starts sputtering on only one cylinder, sounds like it doesn't get gas or has too much...a lot of times it happens when i'm going uphill. When i stop for 5-6 sec then get back on it, it runs fine again. Stock air intake with no lid, t5 pipes, porting and stock shaved head for more prestone and domes. 380 main jets, i went up 20 for winter. I run 35:1 mix. I cleaned the carbs and sync them
ginger
Do a plug chop, that way you can tell if it is rich or lean, to make you adjustment and which cylinder it is.
Ayesully810
My guess is its lean, if it revs all the way out for 10-15 seconds WOT thats not a rich condition. If I were were me id chop the plug going up the hill WOT for 10 seconds like u say you do and see how it reads. What pilot do you have? gusto
Main sounds huge! your floats adjusted correctly?
sleeper06
If the float is off or getting stuck on that side , you could be sucking it dry and it's not rebounding quickly enough. Since its only one side I would definitely do your basic testing, compare compression, pressure test crankcase, check for burnback on plug wires and ohm coil

If it's running on a 380 you have a PROBLEM !!

If it's running on a 380 you have a PROBLEM !! well it is cold and hes got a ported motor so even when hes warm he could be around a 330 or 350. My 4 mil with stock carbs was a 370 in the hottest of summer
sleeper06
380s are def not uncommon in a ported engine . For some reason fmf takes hella fuel to be happy compared to other pipes ,t5 are not far off. Since it's been milled he should def do a compression test n a squish test . I couldn't make out if he has a stock head modified for domes or just a milled head .
Bambi
I really meant 380 jets lol, the stock head was modified for domes, and to hold more prestone. My pilots a 27.5 i think. But the quad was running well before I took the engine out to paint the frame... i'm going to open the carbs up to see if the floats are getting stuck. Last time i did a compression test it was 120 psi on both. I cut my coil wires to make sure connections were good, changed plugs. I'm gonna try plug chop too. Larry's Shee
Didn't catch the porting other than it was lumped in with head. Now the rest of the story !! Had you mentioned it ran fine before you painted it, someone might suggest that you check the ground.
Bambi
It was running fine before, but i'm definitely going to check the ground.
Bambi
Checked the ground, took a ride and still acting like the right cylinder is starving for fuel. Could it be float/needle related? I remember I had problems getting the slide in that carb because of the needle, it wouldn't get in the hole, like my needle was a little bent ... could that be my prob? Also switched the coil wires and still doing the same on the right carb. I might also try swapping the carbs tomorrow.
