Glenn
I put a new stator and coil on the bike and still have no spark at the plugs. If you turn the lights on and kick it fast the headlights try to light up but I still have no spark at the plugs and I'm using a thing between the plug wire and plug to show if you have spark. If the headlights are getting power shouldn't I be getting power to the plugs also? Or does the power for the coil have to go threw the CDI BOX before it sends it to the coil for the spark? ZillaFreak
The lights and ignition share the stator but don't use the same coils/pole on the stator. First thing to do is check to make sure your wire from the coil to the stator doesn't have any breaks in it. If this is good, next, you check to make sure the pick up gap is correct on the flywheel to sensor. If good, next would be to check that your stator is good on the ignition side. If this is good, next would be check coil. Finally, check the CDI.
Glenn
Is there a way to check the CDI or just check everything else you listed and if all that checks out then just replace the CDI BOX?
Toybreaker
if you want to throw parts at it replace the CDI, then the coil, then the stator, then the wiring harness.... when it still doesn't run come back and follow directions.... Quote If you would read my very first post you would see I have already put a new stator and coil on the bike. The stator tested bad the coil had 1 bad wire so it also got replaced. I was asking if I check the stuff the guy listed above in order and everything checks out is it safe to say the CDI BOX is bad?
ZillaFreak
Did you replace with known good parts?
Glenn
I just put them on yesterday. I am gonna go out there now and test them with the ohm meter just to make sure the new parts are good to go.
Toybreaker
you answered my next comment, did you verify the "new" parts are good? check the pickup gap while you are there...
Glenn
Just walked out to the barn. I am gonna check them now and will post the results in just a bit. It would definitely make more sense to me if the new stator didn't check out
Glenn
Ok the lighting coil is .1 to .2 witch is below spec. The pickup coil is 128 witch is in the ball park. The ignition coil is 12.8 which is below spec so I guess I got a brand new piece of junk....LOL
