JUSTWANNARACE Posted October 21, 2017 Report Share Posted October 21, 2017 The timing heat comes off the back of the strap on the plug. It will discolor the edge from heat(where the threads are). So looking at the plug the more discoloring leaving the edge of the strap heading tword 12 oclock indicates the "timing burn" Timing can be monatured by the timing burn. registered user Posted October 21, 2017 Report Share Posted October 21, 2017 honestly i would see if one of these guys will trade u a stock box for that dyna. spark adv is directly tied into egt and without a way to look at egt i dont see any point to the dyna. thats just me though. or else just put it on the stock setting and leave it be lets see some pics of the head,piston tops and rods. im with blowit. i think it was caused by compressing something that wasnt very compressable. If you unplug the selector box, it defaults to curve 4, which on a untouched Dynatek is the "stock" curve. If you go +4* on the plate, then you'll end up at 17* from 10-12K. This may or may not be too much timing. You may be better off just buying a programming cable, maybe only turning your plate +3*, using curve 3 with plate at 0*, or swapping ignitions with somebody. I would love to run the plate a 0* and run curve 3, but since i didnt buy the dyna new i dont know if someone F'ed with the curves. So i aint gonna risk a new motor on it.
