Shaft Seal Change

Maybe do seal behind sprocket too while your perfecting the coarse screw removal skills.  I use a deep socket to install the shift seal, larger regular socket works for the seal behind sprocket.

If you can pull the seal with the shaft still in, then do it. Best of luck removing the seal with the shaft still in and clearing it though.

you seem like you dont like the idea of just trying to take out the seal. I dont want to rig it or cause damage because i took a shortcut..

In your opinion, should i just remove the whole shift shaft??

You can remove it with the shaft in. I just find it easier to take the shaft out, then remove the seal. Then you can check the shaft for any damage (scoring or bent). Then you can clean out the casing where the seal goes. You can try to clean it out with the shaft in, maybe you can visual check for scoring, but I just rather take the time to take it apart.
