LanceG60
The only way I can move my bike with it turned off is to have it in neutral. I can't have it in gear and push it, the wheels just are locked. Now I know this can't be good because the situation probly isnt changing when the bike is running, so I'm thinging my clutch is not fully letting go. But when the engine is running I come to a stop and pull the clutch, I don't roll anywhere...it acts as if the clutch is disengaged. I adjusted the clutch at the lever and it didn't do anything. Should I care about this and try and fix it or is it normal? I could have sworn i could pull the clutch in my friends bike and push it while in gear. fixitrod
The clutch may need adjusted at the pressure plate. At the pushrod on the engine (where the clutch cable attaches) push on it with your fingers and see if the arrow on it and the case line up. If not, you need to adjust it at the pressure plate by draining the coolant and oil, taking the right foopeg off, kickstarter and take the dip stick out. Take the coolant hose off and take all the screws out of the cover. You don't need to take the three off the water pump cover. Tap the case with a rubber mallet and it should pop for you. In the center of the clutch you'll see a set screw with a locking nut on it. Loosen the locking nut and adjust it until the arrows line up...(when you have pressure on the pushrod). Tighten the lock nut and double check. Put it back together in reverse order. You may want to put a little grease on the seal in the case where the kickstarter comes through. Adjust your clutch handle to have about an inch of slop at the end of the handle. Maybe not that much... I don't have the numbers handy. I'm sure I missed something....I'm telling you from memory. Oh, you may need to take the two allen screw out of the brake and take the rear brake lever off.
erbilabuc
usually when your bike is cold it the oil is thicker and for some damn reason it drags on the clutch. Did you know that your clutch isnt really completely off. It always has contact just not as much. get what I am saying? I didnt feel like typing it out. banshee tuner
DONT TEAR YOUR BIKE APART OR SPEND ANY MONEY, THE CLUTCH WILL WORK FINE AS SOON AS THE OIL WARMS UP AND STARTS TO MOVE AROUND IN THE GEAR CASE. PUT THE BIKE IN NEUTRAL AND LET IT IDLE, ONCE IT WARMS UP THE CLUTCH WILL WORK FINE.
