Race Logic Porting Kit

Someone just pm'd me asking me about it and since I see that there are no other posts about it on the new forum I will start this one.

its about the equivalence of a stage 2 or 3 port job. The power that you get is a lot. It takes a Dremel with the flex shaft, a light source that can shine down into the cylinder and a lot of sanding discs. It is pretty simple but it takes a few hours to do both cylinders. If you have patience and a staedy hand you can do this. I juts recommend getting 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch sanding drums. Tou will use the 1/4 inch for the corners and the 3/8 and 1/2 for the rest. I wouldnt even use the Dremel sanding drum discs because they dont last that long at all. I found a brand called "Gators" at Home Depot and they where 6 for $1.99 and it took three of these to do one cylinder as opposed to a Dremel sanding drum disc as it took about 14 to do one cylinder. The Dremel's sanding drum discs are about $3.99 for 6.

I have erbilabuc's race logic porting kit- I have yet to port the cylinders, but I will definitely post on this thread as to how much more power I get...Erbilabuc- How much did you jet up for your kit??? Those figures will help ppl decide on weither or not to buy the Race Logic kit I'm sure...The templates are pretty nice too- definitely worth the loot in my opinion- especially if you have a few friends that want the same port job, as they can be used again and again! funny you ask about the jets. I figured that I would have to jet up, so I went from 300's to 370 just to be safe, ran like hairy ass dingleberries. Worked my way down to 330 and still the same. After about 9 hours of cutting away at the air box and the mounts to make jetting easier on me I just put it back to where it was and that was at 300 and took the pilots to 30 and moved needle one clip towards lean. Ran a lot better but I am still super rich, I fould plugs every 3rd right or so. I am gonna try a 290 when it warms up because now that it is a little cooler here in Orlando (40-50 farenheit) it has been running great and the plugs are lasting. The only thing about jetting is that you have to start somewhat high and work your way from there, there is really no way to be able to say what because every motor is different. I have about 50 dollars in jets that I bought and cant even use:(.

so back to the original question, I had to actually jet down

I ported my jugs with the race logic kit. It really raises your intakes by quite a bit. It adds a bunch of rpms and power up top, but it seems to put your powerband in "lightswich" mode. Mild until you hit 3/4 throttle, then you get an amazing shot of power out of nowhere. You better be holding on. Get it if you already know how banshees like to be ridden--in the powerband. Forget it if you like technical riding or trails. Perfect for duning. As for method, I found that the Dremmel Flex Shaft with Carbide cutter heads work fast/ best. Discs and drums don't last. And plan on spending some quality time on it. If you can't put 10-15 hrs in it don't even attempt it. Also, plan on getting a bore job/pistons/34 mm carbs at least. You should really look into upgrading your shocks, too. Your bike will need extra suspension as you will be traveling at a much higher rate of speed. :)

Okay- now THAT being said- I'm hearing no power gains from the bottom end? RL says it pulls nasty from the bottom to the top- there's just MORE top than before? Even if it stays the same on the bottom and gives me more grunt in the mid-range it would be cool. I just don't wanna take AWAY any power at the bottom. No good for trail riding then? Even if it's done aggressively? What about taking some of the head down to bump up the compression? Has anyone done that and had good experience at the bottom? I figure shave the head for more grunt, and RL's port for more HP??? Any ideas?

there are gains down low but the gains towards the middle and top are so damn big that it kinda makes the low end seem like it hasnt changed but it has. The only way to appreciate and notice the new power is to ride another banshee that doesnt have it done. You will see the difference then. I didnt think there was any difference at all and I have ridden three different banshees that were wayyyy faster then me before porting and now its like apples to oranges..

You will not lose any bottom end power. The reason you would not want this type of port job if you ride trails/woods is because it puts your pb at a much higher rpm. But it seems to let your bike rev twice as high as before. Your pb will hit so hard that it will pull wheelies in 5th if you are not sitting on the tank. Very hard to control technically once you are in the pb. You must get 34 mm carbs if you want to feel the true benifit of this port kit. The shit is as clamed and then some. You will make your money back as soon as you smoke all your riding friends and they all come begging for a port job. 300 a pop, baby!

If you want to improve your trail Shee, yank your juggs and peep into the intakes. I am positive you will see some rice eating engineering in there. Great idea, poor execution. Imagine a couple of air/fuel molecules traveling through those intakes. Anything that would hinder their travel needs to be ground out. Look at where that sweat shop jap pressed those sleaves into those castings. They don't quite match up do they? Grind everything flush. Look down into those transfers, this is where you need to do alot of grinding. Check out those exaust ports, if you can't see your reflection in them, keep polishing. Don't polish the intakes, as they need a rough surface to help atomize the air fuel mixture. Go over the intakes with a round carbide cutter, they seem to give the perfect finish. You don't need the port kit to get better performance out of your Shee. All you have to do is let your engine suck air like it was designed to. All that said, The port kit sure made my Banshee alot faster/funner to ride ;) . Good luck and use new gaskets.
