Replace 4 mil base plate

Recommended Posts

thanks everyone. i definitely agree with the "drive it like i stole it" mentality. Especially since she runs fantastic. I'm just planning ahead for the winter tear down. It's fine this season, but i don't want to leave that plate when i redo it. Coolhead with stroker domes, and port it. Check!! I may even bump her up to a 421 while she's apart. Thanks again for all the info.

On another note, the guy i got it from did some other things that dont make much sense to me. The pistons are 66.5, the cylinders are polished (on the outside atleast) and the trans gears were replaced. He gave me the original one. Im curious why he did the plate at all.. Seems silly after having other things done at a shop. Maybe just a budget build. It does run good though, so i wont play with her until i have to. Thanks again.

I believe the spacer plate is for when you want to run a stroker crank but don't want to have it ported.
