i have a 92 banshee just completely rebuilt from top to bottom with wiseco pistons and la sleeves with a hot rod crank with a pro design cool head w/ interchangeable domes. now i have 15cc domes and i run straight cam 2. my brother just bought a yfz and he jetted the carburetor and put a jardine exhaust system with a uni filter and we drag a lot. it's pretty even. he gets me on the start and sometimes i cross the line before he does. it's all about who shifts better.

all I can say on this subject is that I watched a stock honda 450r keep up with piped and filtered shees for the first 150ft in sand drags in little sahara. By the end of the 300ft the shees were only ahead of the stock 450r by two or three lengths at the most. And if the yfz is faster than the trx I definitley gotta get my shee ported.

i got video of a 450 racing at waynoka this weekend and beating the crap about of alot of banshees, honda 450, etc. some of those banshees were pretty mean. it could of been the drivers but man the 450 was off like a bullet and pulled towards the end the shee were catching up, but too late

if i only knew how to post video

I was dragging up sand mountain against some stock and some piped YZF's. I have Gnarlies so they are not exactly good pipes in a drag, but did help be get a good hole shot on most of the bikes. The race was really long and up a steeeep hill so it was basically an all out horsepower contest rather than a quick acceleration over a short distance. About 600 feet up the hill in elevation probably about 1200 ft long or so. I could get out in front of the stock YZF and sometimes even the piped ones with a good start but going up the hill I couldn't pull 5th gear and the YZF's could so even the stock YZF would chug on past me towards the top of the hill. I weigh about 250 so that slows me down a lot and stock gearing made it even worse. One more tooth on front and I could have done a lot better but they still would have passed me towards the top. Other banshees with Toomeys and unknown other mods would pull 5th and be faster then the stock YZF and alot more even or faster than the piped YZF's. Of coarse the absolulte fastest quads were the highly moddified drag banshees who would just destroy anybody accept for possibly the YZF 450 2 wheelers who would wave to you as they wheely up the hill past you after giving you a 100ft handicap headstart. The worst one was getting beat by a petite hot looking blond chick on a really nice YZF with alien pipes and probably other mods who came friggin ripping past me so fast it wasn't even funny! :bolt: Sure wish I could have caught up to that fast little hot tail! At least I got the hole shot on her. <_< The TRX didn't seem like it could hang with either the pipes shees or the YZF's going up the hill, only saw one of those to compare though. Got my ass handed to me many times but it was still really fun!

hopefully i can shed some info on this topic. i have 2 neighbors. one with a brand new YFZ and another with a brand new banshee. on a hard pack surface in a drag the YFZ pulls out in front but the banshee comes back and beats it by about a quadlength in the end. on anything softer such as loose pack or sand i would say the YFZ would win because of a superior chassis design which allows it to hook up. thats another reason why i think the YFZ does so well on the dunes is because of hookup and the torque of the motor can pull it harder through the sand, however on anything hard, flat, or paved the banshee has always won. we have switched riders multiple times and its always ended about the same. one reason for so many YFZ's smoking banshees is because most people are running a 85-90% engine as opposed to the YFZ's engine running great from the four stroke design. even with great maintenance and care the banshee still takes more wear over time than the YFZ which is one reason why we did the race with a brand new banshee and a brand new YFZ.

My cousin and close riding mate also bough him a 450.

That makes two 450's to race against.

I just returned from my quad vacation to scotland.

The first thing i did was taking the yfz450 for a spin.

its a second hand bike but in really great shape.

all the gytr stuff is on it.

header + silenser

air filter

bullbars

jetkit

The works,

Great bike runs verry clean, fast revving i dare say even faster reving as my banshee.. and most bansee's

After i got my banshee back together there was ofcourse a dragrace on asphalt.

We were dead even 5 times.

450 takes the holeshot

up to 5th gear i'm slowly repairing the damage from the holeshot.

450 starts to rev out 5th gear and i have to shift to 6th where i lose another few feet because of shifting.

eventually the banshee will go past since this 450 tops out at 72 MPH

i really dont want to know what is going to happen tomorow.

We will be of to some constuction site, i guess i better prepare for defeat.

We will soon do the free cam mod on this 450 aswell, get the airbox lid off and rejet. i'm sure the 450 has takes the win in this drag aswell.

As for my setup:

t5's + dbkiller

k&n + powerlid

360 mains

4 deg advanced timing and boyeson reed petals.

things i will change for the next drag:

change to road tires (the fast trekkers suck on road)

go back to 15 tooth on front.

its a great ride. feels like banshee powerband but then all the time..

hard seat.

A friend of mine bought a YFZ 450 Limited Edition Black. He weighs around 180 lbs. His 450 has a trinity pipe and K&N filter with a Pro Flow Adapter. It throws a flame out the exhaust at times. To me I think he has gone alittle to far on his jetting, the pipes are turning color.

I run my shee with Mods listed below with a 15 tooth sprocket and I weigh 150 lbs and my Shee is jetted alittle rich but it responds well and my pipes arent colored up. Theres gonna be a drag no matter what!! He use to own a Banshee and sold it. Over the last 2 yrs since I got my 97 Shee Ive added All kinds of accessories and he hates to be on the bottom. He always was use to having the best of everything and I had to stay in his shadow. I made the Choice of getting the Maxxis Razor 2 rears and the Maxxis Razor2 Drag specials for the front to help on my traction. When this race happens I want it on video. I know this race will be close and its been a long time coming. I'll keep you all informed on what goes down.

Keep the SHEE in front!!!! :headbang:
