verdoneracing
I was wondering if anybody had raced or have botten a new YFZ 450. I heard that they fly up Olds in Glamis. Is this new Yamaha a threat to the banshee.
raxen
They are not a problem for those who are in to drag but are a considerable threat to mxers. This is assuming your shee is modded lightly.
03 'shee
my brother has one and in a drag there is no contest
Ultimateduner
A piped banshee with a some little mods could probally beat a stock 450.
raxen
A piped banshee with a some little mods could probally beat a stock 450. There is no could to it. I have seen it happen several times.
IrideA250R
yet those same banshee's should beware of a piped and airbox lid less 450...the 450's go pretty damn good.
BenBB
True. I've raced 2; one in TT that was essentially stock (like just tires) that I beat, but I have no idea by how much (the only reason I really know I raced one was looking at some pics after the race)...in that race I came in 3rd behind a 250R and a CRF450 in a 250R frame. The second one I raced was at the dunes last Sunday, he had a hi-comp piston, Webb cam, Alba pipe, some kinda rev box, and no airbox lid, oh yeah and new ITP paddles. I only beat him in a drag race by about 3 bike lengths... So yeah they are no slouch, nice bikes for sure...I wouldn't sell my Banshee for one but it would make a nice compliment to my garage, no doubt. ator
I bought a 450 about a 2 months ago. My friends who can beat me in a drag race have: Modified Banshee (coolhead 20cc domes, PC pipes, ported, dual 33mm PWKS, and more) and a modified 250R (FMF pipe, coolhead w/20cc dome, mildly ported, 35mm pwk) I can absolutly waste a z400 It's alot closer against the 250r, between 1-3 bikes, against the banshee its like 5+ bike lengths easy. And I can take both off the line every time, we have to race all out all gears to create those distances too. But for MX (the reason a got this thing) it's no contest, I can eat up both of these bikes, and the 250r was a good race for my MX shee (in MX not drag)
Dragg-on
when it comes to these fast bikes (450 and Banshee) alot falls on the rider, dont let 1 bad banshee rider that gets beat discourage you, there are a lot of good riders that can work wonders. bronco91shee
Ive raced a few 450's, they apperared to be stock. But all my shee had was a k/n and boysen reeds. They beat me every time, but only by a few links. They seem to be a little faster than raptors. These were all drags at the dunes that i was in, for reference. But in the end, with compareativly equal riders, the shee would need pipes, k/n, maby a little else(doubt it), and a good set of tires(stockers r good for burnout contests, thats it!), to beat a stock 450. Just from my experience. Peace out.
smokin350
i have an 02 stock just k&n, useless boostbottle, lonestar axle and my friend just got a 450 and we dooked out on the street like 10 times dead even everytime unless i missed a gear then he would be gone but otherwise dead even and we raced almost up to the top of 6th. XtremeYFZ450
I have a shee and I bought a 450 about 3 monthes ago and stock v's stock the 450 every time (racing up comp hill at Glamis and Dumont). If both bikes have about the same bolt on mods (filter, pipe, jets...etc) still the 450 every time. Now with enought mod on the shee you can take the 450, I've been smoked a few times but again with the same mods the 450 takes it.
SANDSTAR
A banshee will beat a 450 stock for stock. Pretty close, but in the sand, the banshee wins.
SANDSTAR
Now lets say you equip a stock shee with shocks comparable to a 450. Now all the power will get to the ground and throw sand all over a 450. Mod both bikes the same, the shee wins period. A 2 stroke responds to mods much better than a 4 stroke. bigscary
A banshee will beat a 450 stock for stock. Pretty close, but in the sand, the banshee wins. this is wrong............ I saw a stock shee get 5 lengths put on him by a stock yfz........
