the orange bike is modded slighly. it has shortys drag port, cpi in frames, v-force reeds and pro design intakes, cool head and 34 mm carbs with k&n's. it ran a 4.8 in the 100 yards with water leaking into the cylinders due to bad dome o-rings.

the le banshee has pipes and filters and was beating the 450 75% of the time.

OK well that explains why he is smoking everyone there.

I know HP doesnt win races, but it does help and going by the numbers

stock 450 : 45hp

stock banshee :35hp

id come to the conclusion that the 450 has more balls in stock form.

i raced a piped cammed raptor yesterday, got a squirlly start and he beat me, he turned around and pinned it comeing back and was 100 feet away and i jumped on it again and not only caught him but passed him and got back to where we started from 50 feet before him......lots of shit comes into play when dragging.....is his bike faster than mine?

I have to say its all about the rider.. When I raced the other day

we were trying different things and if the shee left in 1 gear and the 450 in 2 gear

we were pretty close to dead even but when both left in 2 gear the shee by

several bike lengths also changed bikes where i rode the 450 and he rode the shee same results

Went to Glamis this past weekend and finally had a chance to see what these new "450's" were all about...I raced two up Olds that were completely stock and walked ALL over them. My banshee has some serious port work done though....I raced a couple more later on that had pipes and filters and it was a much closer race. I still won by quite a bit, but at least they gave me somewhat of a run for my money. Finally, I raced this other 450 at China Wall. Now this bike was VERY impressive. It rolled up next to me and it was completely decked out in Duncan racing stuff, and some trick looking beadlock rims...Anyways  It smoked me off the line (I start in 3rd gear) and about halfway through the whoops I began to catch him. I continued to get closer but that bike had some serious top end too!!! I could barely catch him at the top and I ended up winning once out of the two times we raced. The guy darted off before we could do a third round

Anywho---My take on the whole thing is that you have to take them serioulsy because they CAN be really quick...Racing a piped banshee vs. a piped 450 will result in a loss for the shee 90% of the time IMHO...

Later,

Troy

sorry I couldn't reply quickly...I was at Glamis  ...But about the third gear start thing, you have to clutch the piss out of it but it'll do it. I find it easier because when racing up hills I can ride third through the whoops and shift into 4th and 5th up the hill. Even though off the line it wont be as fast, I can make it up in whoops faster. Oh, and I I have a 14 tooth front sprocket.
