RagunCajun
We just invest in a 401k/retirement plane on our own. My current and last major employer matched up to 4% per check. It's very very hard to stay that long in my field of work which is oil field. At my shop/plant where I got into it, they walked out many managers the day I got walked out. Even the guy who hired me on long time ago.
Strm Trpr
Do you work for the state? And no, I do not work for the county or the state. No place is worth staying if it sux Yeah, that's also another problem, I am absolutely 110% happy with my job.
m671054
Pepra changed the retirement formulas going forwards. I work for the water district. Not technically gov job but pretty damn close. We can retire 100% salary with 38 years service min age 55.

m671054
Not at 100% i bet. Our minimum is 5 years of service and 54 years old but you only get 10%.
guns4children
Railroad retirement is pretty much the same thing. We have to have 30 years and be 60 to retire. I wish it was just 30 years my ass would be retiring at 48
