Baileycakes
Is it normal to have to give the banshee alot of gas from a stop in first gear?? If I don't take off fast it will stall... There is no point that it will start to roll slow. It's either take off fast or stall, no slow rolling start. I'm trying to figure out if clutch needs replacing or if this is typical. Thanks
bigweav81
Is it a bog on take off? Checked your compression? Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
registered user
you have to remember these bikes are way over 300lb and less than 40hp so they might seem a bit sluggish on take off, especially if your used to light weight singles. i felt the same when i first got a banshee. sheerider11
I don't think it's normal. I can feather the clutch out with no cash and get the bike rolling.
sleeper06
Doesn't sound normal but hard to tell from words what your experiencing
registered user
when I got my first stock banshee I thought it was a turd on take off just like the OP is saying. had to rev it quit a bit and feather the clutch. 2 small cylinders that have very little torq at low rpm and a heavy ass bike make for a bad combo. Baileycakes
I did a compression test. About 118 on both sides. It's not bogged down when taking off.. There is never a point when in letting off the clutch where I can slowly roll. It's either give gas and take off really quickly or if I don't give alot of gas it will stall. Starts up with no issues. I had a jet kit and pipes installed recently but it was doing this before I installed the pipes... I'm trying to make a video to post.. If a clutch needs replacing will it fail for all gears?? Or could my situation where only going in to first gear is a sign of bad clutch? I know it's hard to diagnose a problem without seeing the bike, so I want to say thank you to all! I appreciate your input.
sleeper06
What pipes? What jetting? What fuel? What filter/box combo ?

hoppedupandcutdown
Does your clutch lever have a little free play? Not a lot. Not none.
bigweav81
24:1........like a little gas with your oil huh. Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
Baileycakes
Lever didn't have alot of play. And is that not the right oil mix? Was only going by what the kid I bought it from told me he was using. If that mix is wrong please let me know, I don't know much about this stuff. Maybe I should just have the clutch changed and not have to worry about it...
bigweav81
Buy a clymers manual, and tools.....your going to need it sooner, or later. 32:1 is a good ratio...it's preference though. Ask 100 ppl, and get 75 different answers. To answer your question yes that's rich af. Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
