Cali421
I have a 421 cheetah pv, bought the bike with this motor few months ago. Anyhow after riding it and feeling like it wasn't at its full potential I started reading threads on trinity pv motors and issues with domes and so on. I purchased a billet head from chariot so that I could use common domes, spoke with a builder and he asked for deck height in order to cut domes. So I tore the head off and did a squish test with 0.62" resin core solder just to see where it was and it did nothing to the solder.I've been running 100 sunoco. And also on that same side the dome and piston are pitted. I haven't done a squish test on other side yet but will soon and get some pics. Also couple weeks ago did a compression test with craftsman tool and came up with 150psi on both sides. Need help figuring out what caused this and what I can do to fix it. Can I just buy new pistons (573mo6800) hone and go? Thanks for any input
trickedcarbine
Deck height is measured at the edge of the piston crown. Get the motor at TDC and measure from the deck of the cylinder to the edge of that crown.

J-Madd
You said you tore the head off and did a squish test??! The solder is bent like you did it correctly. So I figure that you just typed that unclear. What was the squish on the good side? Too much squish can cause deto as it can leave unburnt end gases in the combustion chamber. They can ignite at the wrong time. Edit: by the look of that oring water could've caused that. Squish is still too big though.
Cali421
Yes I did the squish test just to see if that's why the power was lacking. When I got the bike it was low on coolant but added blue stuff and it hadn't lost any since. Edited January 5, 2017 by Cali421
