Cali421
Would running some type of tube on the intakes to push them farther away from carbs affect performance? I'm trying to move my pod filters away from the silencer pipes and don't want to use wrap.
trickedcarbine
Are you running angled pod filters?

thomas h.
Look for the 1" black silicone fire sleeve on eBay. 20-30$
Cali421
Nice thanks Thomas might go with that..anyone have input on whether pushing filters further out would hurt performance?
trickedcarbine
Should be ok.

sheerider11
Nice thanks Thomas might go with that..anyone have input on whether pushing filters further out would hurt performance?Yes it will. Some guy on here put it in a computer program. He showed that and what to small if pods do. It was a discussion whether or not those long 14 inch pods were needed. I can't think of his name. He showed the effects of moving them back
gusto
And what were the effects? Anyone know the difference between pods vs open air box with a high flow filter?
J-Madd
According to most, pods > air box. I don't know of anyone (with a clue) that says an air box will outperform pods. As for the moving the air filter back, this changes the tuned intake length. Like the exhaust, the intake can also be tuned to shine at a certain RPM. There are a few formulas on this, but they don't always give you the same length. What I have found out and been told, you start long and keep shorting the intake length till you get what you want, have to use a dyno to see this. On a stockish motor and stock carbs a K&N pro flow and no lid is as good as pods IMO.
