yamaha driver Posted November 23, 2016 Author Report Share Posted November 23, 2016 Well I guess it has a timing plate too, I took of the side cover and noticed its at about +6, PO said engine was stock but he didn't own it for very long so I guess not. yamaha driver Posted November 23, 2016 Author Report Share Posted November 23, 2016 Well I just set it back to zero and put the new clamps on and the plugs turned to a lightish brown with very dark brown waves? But it still cracks apart at high rpm about half way through the powerband, choking it just makes it worse. The pickup coil looks new so maybe it's a rm stator? yamaha driver Posted November 23, 2016 Author Report Share Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) Well I compensated the lean condition with richer jetting which I believe was the intake clamps, I didn't know it had a timing plate, and it's still at 340 mains at about 20F now, but the plugs are seem fine now they aren't wet around the bottom and it barely got hot even after riding it for a while. But it ran great no more low end bog and great power until it just hits almost like a rev limiter. I know people (rightly) say that jetting is way rich, but I run 25/350s in mine with T5s, KN, no lid, +5 timing and it revs clean throughout. Clean holes n plugs with ascetone then use some three bond 1211 and some new hose clamps n retest.
