dag8501 Posted November 14, 2016 Report Posted November 14, 2016 Having trouble dialing in my 35mm air strikers at idle. My bike is ported, open air filter and cpi inframes with stock ignition. Carbs are jetted with 35 pilots 2.5 turns out and 152 mains. I am at sea level and the bike still has the tendency to load up at idle. Bike runs fine on the big end but no luck at idle and pilot jets smaller than 35 are not offered to the best of my knowledge. Any suggestions are insite on this matter will be greatly apprecitated. Keno Posted November 14, 2016 Report Posted November 14, 2016 Have your slides cut to a #6 http://www.rb-designs.com/rb_designs_llc_013.htmor buy #6 slides. Then you can use a ~#45 pilot and have better adjustability. There are aftermarket Chinese #30, #32, and #33 pilots on ebay. But probably better cutting or getting new slides. Quote
dag8501 Posted November 15, 2016 Author Report Posted November 15, 2016 Thanks for the suggestion. How much will having my slides cut to a #6 affect the needle and main jetting? Also, do you think there is any good reason for this extremely rich condition? Could the port work be that efficient? Quote
dag8501 Posted November 15, 2016 Author Report Posted November 15, 2016 I also forgot to mention that I leaned up the float height to 19mm just to get the bike to idle decent without loading up and stalling out. Quote
sleeper06 Posted November 16, 2016 Report Posted November 16, 2016 Compare the price of slides to just getting a set of reg pwk , I've never personally had a problem but many have. I may have slides you need I'll check when I'm home 1 Quote
Keno Posted November 18, 2016 Report Posted November 18, 2016 It's rich down low because strikers come with like #3 slides. Regular PWKs come with a #6. The slide effects idle to 1/8 throttle mostly and less effect up to around 1/2.Leaning the slide cutout will make the carbs tune similar to regular pwks. You could always try raising the slides a smidge to see if it helps. Tedder Posted November 24, 2016 Report Posted November 24, 2016 Years ago we ran 35mm Air Strikers on a 358 cub asphalt bike with the OEM slides and needles. At 1200ft with oxygenated VP CMP Mains were 162 in the heat of the summer and 165 when it cooled in the fall Pilots 42 Quote
