bradyray
I bought a 95 basket case the other day. I've had 2 banshees before but only did minor work to them. This one is completely taken apart. It came with everything to put the body back together. Motor wise it came with 1 complete bottom end, another bottom end missing crank, 2 sets of jugs (one set I believe has been big bore sleeved) stock set mic'ed at 65.7ish. My question is can I run a stock stroke crank with the big bore cylinders? The one bottom end that has a crank I believe is a stock stoke. It has 29L stamped on the rods. Thanks guys. ClaudeMachining
Yes, you can run stock crank with big bore as long as the jugs are ported for a stock crank. But a fully stock crank is week on the pins, if you go for more hp/cimpression, you better use a crank with welded pins. Does your crank have welding on the pins?? bradyray
Pardon my ignorance but by welded pins are you meaning the lower rod pins? And I have absolutely zero information on any of the parts. Guy I got it off of bought it as is and he didn't know what he was doing so I got it for a steal. ClaudeMachining
Yes. Just google 'banshee welded crank'. Stock stroke = 54mm you can measure it. Dunno the best way to check the timing on the jugs tho... Someone else will help hopfully.
bradyray
From what I've read the 29L rods are stock rods. And the pins are not welded. I think I'm going to put new bearings on the stock crank and throw it back in its case. Have the stock cylinders cleaned up/bored if necessary and ride that engine while I build the 2nd motor. I'll have to get with someone to tell me if the big bore jugs are stock port or not. Thanks.

ginger
they aren't necessarily big bore, stock sleeve will go to 66.00 thats what my cylinders are, thats just as big as you can go safely.
