special06shee
I out ride stock suspension right away. The issue with stock is they are not set up correctly for everyone. Riding stock shocks then throwing on some cheap works, I noticed a world of difference. The front didn't bounce around on every bump and it was easier to keep on the throttle because it didn't want to bounce me off. Then when going to wider arms, rear shock, wider axle, taller anti vibe and damper, it was better again. It isn't hard to outride a stock banshee suspension.being too fat for stock shocks isent out riding them... Dont get me wrong, suspension is great but its expensive. If i only had 1400 budget like op, id do mtr upgrades before suspension. Imho a fast sketchy bike is FAR more fun then a slow caddy.
hoppedupandcutdown
I'm with Special06 on this one. I spent equal time on both my quads at this last HQ ride (4days) My stock suspended '96 with no more than T5's coolhead and K&N, and my 421Serval with Lonestar long travel and all 3 Elka stage 4's. I can't say my stock Banshee beat me up any worse than the other. AND THAT SAND WAS ROUGH. I'd be more than happy with a dune/play port and maybe 4mil while at it on my '96. But then my stock suspension/shocks are in very good shape.
Bennett131
You guys are all numb skulls, op if I were you I'd spend that 1400 on something other than a banshee!

The best money I've ever spent on my bike is when I upgraded my steering with an Anti-Vibe Steering Stem, Pro Taper Contour Bars and ODI Rouge clamp-on grips. Arm pump was virtually eliminated and to ride the rough stuff, I stand up, lean back, grab 4th and gas it!! My stock front suspension was in excellent shape but with just my full bolt-on stock motor, I couldn't use all of the power or speed. Now that my suspension is fully mod'd there's a Redline Serval on Cam's workbench as we speak...

You can say that because you've probably spent 3x that on your Banshee... Hell, I've spent 3x that on my suspension and handling alone... BTW, I like it!! It's fine all said and done but if I went back in time knowing what I know, I probably would have just kept beating on my stockish bike. If I were to add every dollar I ever spent of my dumbass bike, I'd be well over 15k. Only to recently buy a yfz and realize I fucked up. These junky cobbled up POS bikes will never handle good. Ever. Sell the banshee now and get a modern 450 and be light years ahead

I ride the dunes hard, and I can't stand how my body got beat to hell in rough sand on stock suspension and steering! Yeah, the money could've been spent else where in life, but the feeling I get dune riding my banshee is so therapeutic to me, that all my mods are worth every single penny!!

The handling tho is where it absolutely out does the banshee. Once I got the stem and bars to my height, I never rode WFO for so long. I couldn't imagine running trails on my banshee. I spent waaayyy too much on my suspension to beat the hell of it on rocks and shit! I'd have no problem beating the hell out of 450R stock suspension components on trails though!
Strm Trpr
I've always wanted an R for trails, but I'm torn between 4 wheels and 2 for trails, preferably a 2009 or newer KTM 300 XCW! If I get an R, my teenage sons can ride it.
