Banshee Vs. Big Bore Raptor

My friend has a Raptor w/ 726 big bore, Full Yosi. ex and cam. We have not raced yet, my banshee is getting rebuilt. I was wanting to know what it is going to take to beat him on the dirt drag and asphalt? Currently these are the mods that I have Noss Machine head w/20cc domes @1000Ft , 4 deg timing key, 2into1 pipe, and uni filter. My motor is busted top to bottom so I`m am needing a nice motor setup, I want something that will work well with the pipe that I allready have. THANKS for any feedback!!!

what kinda racing are you doing for one?

 

if it's like MX or something you shoooooooould be ok...sounds like he has a lot of low end on you...if you're drag racing, you're probably gonna get worked because that 2-1 pipe does jack up top....hell get a set of CPI's or T5's and you'll be pretty good and set up...

You're gonna need porting in my opinion.

 

I sold my bike, but here's a run down of what it had

 

cool head w/ 18cc domes

toomey t5s

v force II reeds

Patriot Hot Dune Porting

Wiseco pro lite top end

+4 swingarm

Hot Rod Crank

 

Probably missing some stuff though but anyways..my buddy has an 01 raptor w/ a pro circuit full pipe and a filter w/ all the a arms shocks durablue axle....etc etc.

 

On sand, I walked him pretty good

On pavement w/ light gravel on top..he could hang w/ me up til 2nd gear..then i was gone...but he didn't have a big bore and cam which helps alot.

 

I'd say since your motor is toast, get it ported and a fresh rebuild and you'll have no problem

Yup, agreed, port and polish, Wiseco pro lites, welded crank, CPI's, 33-35 carbs, go up a tooth on the front sprocket to a 15 toother and drop the domes on your cool head down to about 17's. Should be one hell of a bike when its done.

shit if you want to be even spend as much as he did he must have droped some big coin to do those mods. dump the 2 into one and get a 4mm stroker crank if yours is bad or better yet I have seen a few engines allready built on planet sand for sale one was backed by Dan at patroit racing I think it waws for 1800 or bro but it was a 10mm stroker built to the hilt there are a few others for sale over there like a 7mm stroker but, if you are set on rebuilding your own 4mm is perfect no trenching of the case to put it in then get you jugs ported to match

Just install a nice NOS "the only working boost bottle" and jet it for a 15 HP gain. It will tear him three to four new assholes.

what kind of piston do u run with the 4 mm and do you use a spacer plate? I heard that with the 4mm you have to port it to see any hp!! Is this true?  I would really love to keep the 2into1 pipe.  How much HP can I gain with a .80 bore?

I would get the cylinders drag ported (top end)

ditch the 2 into1 pipe and get a t-5 or cpi or maybe sst's

wiseco prolites (have the windows port matched)

get tha stock reed cages ported

and get some different reeds..........

 

then you may have a chance (granted his craptor is set up right........)

 

I have an 03 686 raptor stage 2 hot cam, ported head, stock carbs, no airbox and runnin pump gas

and I can put about 2 lengths on my buddies shee

he has a 95-96 with sst's cylinders drag ported

wiseco prolites

and v-force reeds

but both of our quads are tuned perfectly!(or the were at the time of the race)

I'm trying to tune mine differently so I can run a little extreme power fuel.....

do not bore up to .80 unless you have to, its like killing your engines life. every bore is really valuable and it wont get u much power at all maybe 1-2 hp from stock to .80, i run a 2-1, but how come you want yours so bad, r u doing mx or trails?

bigscary....he lost cuz he was using sst pipes which are the worst pipes fmf maks imo. They are designed to work good on a STOCK engine not a drag ported engine..i hate those pipes. So in the future dont tell people to use sst pipes on a ported banshee cuz it aint gonna run for shit. I got a friend with sst on his shee and it feels lagy everywhere.

 

96bansheeeee....I watch a bunch of drag races and you wont even be able to hold a candle to that bike unless you have some serious work done to your bike. Have a pro build do your engine and blow his wheels off.
