Been out of the game for a while, want to build another

Recommended Posts

They never are anymore, 2 g just for internals will hurt but I will do it as money comes. I'm gone 5 days of the week as it is so it will have to be a slow build anyway. Thinking of picking up a roller and starting with my suspension and frame.

Do the cases have trouble when you start making the bigger power? I know my raptor did and I had to install case supports

It never hurts to upgrade a few things in that department but as far as the cases themselves they will be fine. The D shaped rubber engine dampers on the front and the rear of the motor, I'd at least use 4 of them instead of two (two up front, 2 in the back one on each side).

With those also replace the dampers in the upper case. It's safe to assume there all at least 10 years old and very few people have ever changed them

Those are things I always forget to add into what I mention on here. I always take for granted the fact that I just replace those things where most people wouldn't.

421 serval.

80+ horses with a very rideable power. They were designed for the guys wanting power with out it being a drag motor. Cases will be fine and not need any major work as the 4mm crank will drop right in with out being trenched. The trans should be worked over while you're in there though. Do a pro mod, not an over ride. Upgrade the clutch with fresh components and a lock up as well. You could get by with really stiff springs, but it's no where near as nice to ride. Don't forget carbs, good pipes, reeds, and all the other odds and ends.

Do these servals run better on the In frame drag pipes also? I know the cub cylinders did

Yes, however they still make a good grunt right when you stab the throttle.

Snipers, Shearers, CPI's, or Rockets. There is a dyno comparison in the Dyno section. The Serval is very similar to a cub, however they are cast with a bit more conservative port lay out to make the motor more friendly for riding other then drag racing.

Loco I know this, the classes are 2 stroke and four stroke divided, with a outlaw class that is both. I have real faith in my riding ability. Most of the places we are limited to dirt tires, and these guys can't keep they're front end down long enough to go straight. I just don't want to sink 10k into a 907 on alcohol, it's just not in my budget

I don't see you beating a ~100hp raptor with a 4/10mil serval if the raptor is set in right. They just out the power down better.

My 521 serval is nasty in terms of power even though it is smooth and not violent. You looking at around $7k for a 10mil ported serval. Mine made 109/57 I think. Then there's suspension so you can turn the thing and get power to the ground. I started around $2500-$3000 for my 421 serval build when I started called builders. Decided to go 521 and I'm well over 10k. It adds up very very fast to do it right the first time. And I'm still not done.
