drankpurple
Hey guys, I'm this is my first banshee build... Shit first atv build ever. A little background on myself.. Never had a atv or dirt bike growing up, always wanted one but could never convince my mother to buy me one. Fast forward many many years later i bought my first atv at the age of 25 and it just so happen to be a banshees lol.. Go big or go home huh. Btw had very little riding experience but after I bought the shee let just say I figured it out. Anyway.. Im within my last year of college studying engineering so I'm my free time I tinker on my bike. This is how it bought it (06 special edition) Runs great nothing wrong with it but of course I wanted to put my own spin on it Found a way to clean rust/dirt off of the pipes using aluminum foil. Dip the foil in water and scrub the pipe.. because the Aluminum is a softer metal blah blah blah just know u can use water and aluminum foil to remove rust. So I decided to paint the frame as best as I could as cheap as possible. next I decided to clean up my rear end. Didn't do such a great of a job preping but whatever I'll do it over once I graduate Polished radiator and new a arms Latest pics So that's that so far.. All work don't by myself thanks to clymers manual. I also want to clean up my motor next. Opinions please! I've been watching this forum for a few months figure I would post something.. Contributed to all of this greatness that everyone has posted lol. I'm sure I'm forgetting to mention some things but that's it for now. Thanks for reading Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

oldskool
About as much fun modding a banshee as riding one. Welcome
ATVridinMaNiAc
Good bike to start off with. Not sure how well the paint will hold lol, wouldnt have been too much more work to strip the rest of the stuff off before painting. at least with rattle can its easy to touch up as you go. 0000 Steel wool also helps cleaning chrome up along with the wet foil. Like already said, just keep reading on here and youll figure shit out, along with asking things on here as you progress through shit. drankpurple
Like the Popeye cover.... You spray painted the frame? Thanks I got it from eBay. Yes i spray painted it.. Wire brushing it and sanding the frame took a while. All together it took me about 2-3 weeks doing it in between classes lol. Couldn't afford powder coating at the time but I do plan on getting a professional paint job one of these days. May even change the color scheme

I also thought about gettin yfz 450 shocks? I read somewhere that it makes for a good upgrade?

But ur right I think I'll be lucky if it last a whole year. It's been about 5 or 6 months since I painted it. And steel wool I will keep that in mind next time I need to clean my pipes. Burke
Yeah... Terrible geometry without a arms built to utilize the length
trickedcarbine
You were so close to having it all the way apart to do an immaculate job painting it....
drankpurple
Agreed. The over spray looks like shit. It is on the engine, gas tank. Painted the brake lines. The fact you didn't take off the gas tank (4 bolts and a fuel line) or the 2 head lights (bolt and plug each) is just laziness. You missed the steering loop because you left parts in the way. Didn't paint the subframe by the grab bar. If you would take taking the time, it would have looked great. Your right the overspray is shitty but for a cheap garage paint job that I spent less than 100 bucks to do its not too bad... but next time it gets painted it will be right. I've been thinking about doing LED headlights. Not sure if I like just a bar or separate pods? Any opinions??
