banshee#527
Has anyone snapped the bolt for the clutch cable holder bracket on top of the case? Any ideas for a quick repair? Or should I just drill it out and re-tap it?
sheerider11
Try an extractor before you start drilling and tapping shit. I don't understand how it broke tho. That's a low tq bolt that's pretty short if I recall. So how you broke it is beyond me. But try an extractor first
banshee#527
I'll extractor first. Wasn't thinking and used a screw gun with a socket adapter. Snapped off clean!
Shifty722
This is gonna sound funny, but try and find a left hand twist drill bit....try the auto parts store. As the bit grabs the bolt while drilling and runs it out. I have few and they are life savers.

They come with left handed drill bits and the sized extractor that fits the hole if the bit doesn't walk it out.
Shifty722
10-4 my extractors came without bits, but hey we are all on the same page :-)
hoppedupandcutdown
I like just the left-handed bit idea too. Never cared for extractors since they must expand the bolt to bite in. But this should be an easy one since the head broke off and the bolt should not be bottomed out in the hole, or seized. For those I like welding on a nut, a very successful technique.
banshee#527
Thanks for the heads up sheerider11. Used a Grabit extractor and the sheared off bolt came right out. Put the new bolt in with a ratchet this time instead of the impact/screw gun!
