Shifting problem

Recommended Posts

Take the shift star stopper off, put the transmission back in and you should be able to go through all the gears pretty smoothly. If it hangs up while doing this then the offending part should be easy to spot. With both tranny shafts removed, the drum and the forks should all move freely

Ok so I took the dentent off and spin the trans while shifting and it's getting hung up on third...should I get a new drum and forks? The trans looks fune..good teeth and no worn dogs...suggestions

I say send it to someonewho knows what they are looming at.

While there cut it for a promod.

It could be something on the shaft, a fork, drum, or maybe something weird.

But it would suck to spend 100 bucks to still have an issue.

I thought mine looked fine. If you lack experience on what you're looking at you may not notice a problem. I'd send it to someone.

sent from yo mammy house.

Sending it to someone won't help you learn, if you're really wanting to learn it. Plus, it's already apart. When it hangs up on third, I assume you mean shifting from second to third it will not go into third? Even if you are rotating the gears while trying to shift. There should be tension on SOMEthing at that point. So while trying to shift into third, it hangs up, play with every moving part in that transmission, see which one is stuck. Everything inside the trans should have at least a little bit of play at all times. Finding the piece that's stuck will tell you what needs to be worked on.

If you are still stumped after that, maybe find a local, smaller motorcycle repair shop, bring it in there, see if they can tell you whats wrong with it. Probably easier than having to put the motor back together to send it somewhere to take apart again. As a bonus, you can ask them to point out the issue.

Woah that's not needed. Just send the 2 racks and parts to someone.

Worst case theyll tell you you need a new trans

How the fuck can you say this? What will buying a new bottom end solve, unless it's all brand new?

I know this cuz the dogs are good and square and no missing teeth...I guess it could be bad but it meets all specs in my clymer..

I had 2 cut by sleeper06. 1 standard and and 1 N down.

I haven't ridden the N down yet but I'm excited to. I had another cut by redline when he was doing the Christmas deal.

Both people did a great job. I was happy with both.

I hear camatv does a nice promod too. I believe he can also do the N down pro mod
