scotts96fast Posted December 3, 2003 Report Share Posted December 3, 2003 I'm going to have Matt shorten my swingarm soon for the trails.I have two questions.How will the shorter swingarm work on ice?I never rode the ice and plan to mess around on the local lakes this winter. I'm going to stud my old shredders for the ice.What size studs would be best?Do I want to go through the tire so they will not rip out or only into thr tread? Thanks Guys.... Get some 1/2" gold diggers and put around 100/tire for the front and about 200/tire for the rear....If you want more traction, then put more studs.... simple as that... When he quoted me he said less than a week turnaround time. He primers it b4 shipping so it will be ready for paint/powdercoat. Matt is not the one that cut mine. There is NO extra chance of it breaking...matter of fact I think it is stronger than stock. I got my round tube from alloy specialties, and I am using an Americn Star racing carrier. It is for a banshee axle, NO you cannot use a banshee carrier with a honda axle, and you cannot use a honda carrier with a banshee axle either. The axles are 2 different sizes. polaris336 Posted December 4, 2003 Report Share Posted December 4, 2003 sweet thanks for the fast and helpful reply guys. i will pm him in a minute to see if he can do that for me. the before and after look really good, i cant even tell where he cuts it in the pic. i have one question i forgot 2 ask, i am running a PRM rear skid on my shee, and if my swing arm is 2 inches shorter can i still run this one or do i have 2 cut it down some??? mrmatt Posted December 5, 2003 Report Share Posted December 5, 2003 polaris336, I forgot to mention in the PM that the PRM skidplate may cause some issues. Scott and I talked about this on the phone since he is running one too, but the PRM skid plate covers the shock linkage where as most do not. I do not have any experience with the skid plate, but I figure that you will have to do a fair amount of modification to get it to work. The best way to find out is to stand your quad up and take the skidplate off and see how it will fit when moved forward two inches. I keep the relationship between the skid plate and rear axle the same. Most skid plates only need to be notched an inch or so. Boonman, that looks sweet, did you go with tapered bearings?
