Mattchev
Just rebuilt banshee. (seized transmission-swapped and put in new top end and crank seals) All nuts and bolts are torqued to spec, all new gaskets, etc. Getting clouds of white steam / smoke out of both pipes after starting, and bike will only idle for a few seconds and then die. Thinking that coolant is getting into the cylinders and that is being burnt off? If there is an internal leak like that, how will you e able to see that from leakdown test? sheerider11
Do normal leak down see if pressure drops. If it does open rad cap check for bubbles. But coolant should be pretty noticeable on spark plugs too if it is. Don't run it to much anymore. A hydro lock is no fun.
Juststrokeit
Also check the coolant tube with the o ring, that is in the back side of the clutch cover. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Weird cuz the head looks good and head gasket is brand new. How else would coolant be getting into cylinders? and what would plugs look like ? i checked them and they were like a light brown

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk oring is good on tube, but think tube is a little out of shape, since it takes alittle more to get clutch side cover on over that tube
Juststrokeit
Okay did you grease your bearings or anything on the crank or rods? Did you preform leak down? Is it just a stock build? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
sheerider11
I've used 2 stroke as assembly lube, and regular gooey assembly lube. I'm very generous with both. So my fresh rebuilds smoke a lot on start up.

Juststrokeit
Leak down test first.. And should your jetting be pretty close already? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mattchev
fresh bore .20 over , new wiseco piston and rings, open air box, vforce 3s, full t5s, my jetting is 25 pilot 280 main which should be pretty close.
Juststrokeit
Okay.. I'm not much of a jetting guy.. But if someone wants to speak up they will need your elevation too.. I would perform a leak down test so when they do speak up they have all the facts in front of them.. Makes diagnoses easier for everyone.. Larry's Shee
Might also pressure test the rad/cooling system. It's rated for 14/17 lbs you'll find leak easier. Did you install head gaskets right side up? Coolant plugs in bottom of jugs? New gaskets on cyl base?
sleeper06
I've see an increasing number of shit heard gaskets. How was you cleaning process before you installed new gasket and did you use any kind of copper spray or sealant
Mattchev
yeah leak down tester is on its way..should be shipped by tomorrow so im going to do leakdown as soon as i get it. i cleaned gasket surfaces really really good but didnt use any copper spray or sealant.. Is that usually recommended? New gaskets all around (made sure it was right side up for head gasket), coolant plugs in bottom of jugs are good. I will look into pressure testing rad/cooling system. never done that before.
tfaith08
What's your elevation? I'd try some 320 mains to start with. You may need smaller, but that's where most tend to end up with that setup. May want to order some 27.5 pilots to be safe.
