trickedcarbine
Correct me if I'm worng here, but if your goal is to get your bars taller by using different clamp setups, isn't that a cheap way to do it? Vs having the correct stem? That's what I've picked up from opinions about wheel spacers, and 3"/2" wheel offset to cheaply gain some width. Maybe this is different, idk.Yes, Correct stem is the most ideal way.

RagunCajun
Im using whatever old 7/8" bars i had before. That along with my stock steering stem is at the powder coater right now. From my research, i dont see a point of getting an aftermarket steering stem so i didnt. I do not plan on riding rough trails so Flex bars arent needed for me. I'm 5'7" so i will not be reloating my pegs nor raising my bars right now. It's been a couple years since i road my bike so i will put a lot of seat time before changing stuff like that. rjdgriff
I have the trail tech x-bar fat bars. I like them a lot. They take some serious abuse. I do have a very very slight bend in one set, but they have been in about 8 different spills while hill climbing You can see the slight bend Trail bikes, FTW

Whitbread
When I first got them I hated them. I figured I was going to end up selling them. Now I love them. After an honest 5 good rides I grew to like them and get used to them. Now a normal bike feels so violent. I didn't hate mine at first, but they did feel a bit odd. After riding with them for a year, they are one of my favorite mods. I did 430 miles in 3 1/2 days across the UP of Michigan (very rocky) with zero arm fatigue. Just everything else hurt LOL.

Now when I hope on friends bikes with just antivibe stems or less the front end is so stiff and makes my hands almost numb. The bars definitely spoiled me now. PaymentPlan
This is off topic here, but I thought I read somewhere that running a shorty hose for your gas cap could possibly lead to meltdown and prevent proper flow of gravity fed fuel? I have a shorty right now but if this is correct ill be ditching it. Also, any insight on aftermarket gas caps?
PaymentPlan
no real benefit to aftermarket gas caps, if you have a stock one you may want to gut it and remove the ball bearing in it along with everything else... the 1 way flow shorty has caused issues to some people... I ran one on my stock cyls but ditched it when I ran the 10cub. larger motors have been known to need a much larger breather then the stock set up Now does this removal allow for better flow for these bigger engines? PaymentPlan
yeap! some people have even "bored" the breather nipple a little larger, but I havent personally needed to do that... make sure you got nothing else loose under that cap.. i dropped a small gasket or something in mine when i removed it. You wanna keep the gasket for a good seal, right? Mines still in. Edited February 24, 2016 by controls77
PaymentPlan
All set, thanks. I blew through the end of the line and opened up the fuel valve, I felt a good flow circulating. Makes sense how it helps.
