slag_350300 Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 (edited) Hey guys a few months back I sent redline my cylinders and top case half to get bored (.60 over) a dune port, running 21cc domes cut for 4 mil long rod crank (Vito's) and got the case port matched. I am running T5's at the moment with intentions of getting pro circuits for the wide range of riding I do. I just found out that I'm moving to reedsport Oregon next fall for work and am now thinking about gearing my all around banshee towards a duner. (Lengthened swing arm some new shocks and gearing) I've always loved the look of out of frame pipes, same side, and will be in the market for some CPI or shearers. Was wondering how many guys out there have out of frames with a dune port. And are they most beneficial running out of frames for drag only port? Have never had any expirence with out of frame drag pipes before and want to start planning a budget for some new parts when summer rolls around. Thanks Edit: while I'm here now that my engine went from being 100% stock to redline built should I be using a different spark plug? I spaced it out when I was talking to cam last, I have br8es in there now, should I be running an EG plug ? Edited December 27, 2015 by slag_350300 Quote
n2otoofast4u Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 DO NOT DUNE WITH OOFS! Select a good in frame and use em! Side question. What do you do for a living that has you moving to Reedsport? I'm guessing it has something to do with the CNG deal going on down there? Quote
slag_350300 Posted December 27, 2015 Author Report Posted December 27, 2015 (edited) No I'm a welder/fitter, going to work in a shipyard. What is the CNG deal? Edited December 27, 2015 by slag_350300 Quote
n2otoofast4u Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 Gotcha. There's ships there too. There's a GIANT CNG plant going in down there. You'll know all about it when you move to the area. Quote
slag_350300 Posted December 27, 2015 Author Report Posted December 27, 2015 Oh nice, yeah it's been along time since I've been to the coast. I'm pretty stoked there will be dunes north and south of me. Be nice to meet some new ppl who eat breathe and sleep banshees as well 1 Quote
registered user Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 inframes are usually secured to the frame alot better for jumping and shit like that. plus if you tip over oof will probly get smashed to hell. plus you might need mufflers ? Quote
slag_350300 Posted December 27, 2015 Author Report Posted December 27, 2015 I'm not really into jumping my banshee so much as when I was younger. And you are right about the mufflers I forgot about the noise regulations down there. Up here you can get away with a lot. I've just always wanted same side out of frames, they make a banshee look pissed off and awesome. Quote
rubberneck Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 Yes you can run silencers on OOF but i cant see any situation where OOF are going to be a good idea for a real dune bike in oregon. You will be banging those bitches off trees and all kinds of shit Quote
n2otoofast4u Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 Running OOFs in oregon is a guaranteed ticket every time the bike hits the sand, silenced or not! The riding limitation is a secondary conversation. 1 Quote
rubberneck Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 no doubt, when i ran shearers up there, i put some turn downs on the silencers and was not hassled. If i was up there full time i would look for other silencers that would keep the man off your back Quote
Nightmare Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 My Duner with oof's. Im like you though, no jumping or anything. Just straight line shit and cruising around. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk 1 Quote

slag_350300 Posted December 27, 2015 Author Report Posted December 27, 2015 Well I suppose if I want to be left alone I should just get some in frame CPI pipes, last thing I want is a ticket and to be harassed when I'm out having fun. The last time I was down there with my yz250 I had a shorty R304 silencer and they never said anything, but that was back in 2002 so insure it's changed since then Quote
slag_350300 Posted December 27, 2015 Author Report Posted December 27, 2015 (edited) That is one beautiful bike. Where do you ride at? The hill shoots thru the trees like banshee hill is what I can't wait to ride. All about those Edited December 27, 2015 by slag_350300 Quote

Inframe cpi T5 and shearers are all too loud i can tell you that fo sho. You will need to get a different silencer like the ones cascade used to sell if you really want to play it safe. I put turndowns on my bikes when in oregon and although they arent really any quieter up close it seems to not project as much noise and i have been luck with the popo Quote
