pcampbell
few weeks ago stator bolts came loose and damaged stator winding. I replaced the stator and still nothing. ohmed out the pickup coil and stator. both are in spec. checked output with test lamp while kicking it over, lamp lighted up for the cdi and headlamp circuits. is it possible that the cdi got damaged. I completely rebuilt the bike last winter so I know the wiring and connections are good. it died on me when the bolts came loose. I am thinking the lack of lock tight and a cheap aftermarket flywheel could of prevented this. tried the original flywheel even though its bent, still nothing. was thinking about buying a cdi box but I want a high performance box but the one I want is for 96 and newer. can I convert my ride for a newer box. machinegunbanshee
As far as cdi's go, stick with stock factory. Ive read a lot about junk aftermarket cdi's doing some weird things. No spark, engines running backwards, ect...
