buddhabanshee
Just picked up my first banshee. Wanting to clean up the bars so I am moving my key under the gas tank and wanting to put a push button kill switch on the bars. Here's my question, can I run my key to the wires that go to the kill switch and then run my kill switch to the factory key wires? I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I could be wrong. Just wanting to do this so I don't have cut open all the factory wire covering under the tank. I am also putting a toggle switch for my headlights under the tank as well. Thanks for any info! hoppedupandcutdown
The key switch wires have to be connected to run The thumb switch wires have to NOT be connected to run (connected to kill) Hope this helps
tfaith08
Figuring out which you need to tie into is a matter of figuring out which type of killswitch you have. If the killswitch works by breaking the circuit, it needs to be tied in series with the key. If it works by completing the circuit, you need to replace the stock killswitch with it. buddhabanshee
Ok right on. So I just need to get a kill switch and see how it works, breaking or completing the circuit, and go from there. Do most dirt bike kill switches break the circuit? tfaith08
Hook a multimeter to it and check for connectivity. -If it gives connection when you press the button, tie it into the factory killswitch wiring. -If it gives connection when you release the button, tie it into the key wiring in series. Idk about most dirt bike switches, but you should buy a tether killswitch as well if you think you may ever want to run any sanctioned races. Pro armor makes a nice unit. buddhabanshee
I won't be doing any racing so I'm not going to worry about a tether switch. But yea, I hooked a multimeter up to my factory switch and figured out what I'll need. Hoping I can find a nice one off a dirt bike. I would think they're the same as our kill switch but I guess I'll find out Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
tfaith08
I'd get one either way. It's worth $30. It never hurts to know that your bike isn't putting away after you land on your ass with the breath knocked out of you.
Oldskool83
You just need to gut your harness and then you can use a YZ style kill switch. that's what I did. See nothing on the bars. Electrical schematics are all over this site and on google for a search. It's not hard to eliminate some things off the bars.

I like the clean look. All the factory shit on them is ugly. What should I "gut" off my factory harness? tfaith08
Start with the schematic for a drag cut harness. Add in the sections that you'd like to keep from there. You'll see the picture once you start getting into it.TORS, lights (to include brakes), relocate the CDI...
