Alky jetting

Hey guys new here so bare with me. So I have 34 keihin pj carbs set up for alky

118 dump

PJ-1 turn out

DGK needle clip at top

Soldered pilots.

350 ported,

180 comp.

question is with that set up it will clear with a couple revs at the line and seems to pull okay but not liking the fact that my PJ have to be almost closed to make power and the whole soldered pilots I know is wrong. Any help with what needles to run that would be better to run or any help would be great full

It was obviously done for a reason , when you start drilling carb bodies out funny things will happen. I've never looked at a circuitry in a pj but ode imagine it was flowing too much fuel add idle probably due to high signal from a drag ported set up. If I were you I would put those carbs to the side and get some 39 pwks it will be night and day diffrence. If you have no adjustability on pj u could drop to a .116 main pj 3 turns out and check the burn

There is absolutely nothing wrong with soldered pilots nor having a pj all the way closed. That is close to how I have set up 34pjs in the past on 350s. If it will at least give you a good hard launch after cleaning it out once or twice then its fine. You dont mention what pipes but most 350s wont run well with as much timing as what a cub would like and wont need a ton of fuel. You will find that it makes quite a power difference when it is leaned down and probably is faster on the 2nd, 3rd or more pas than the first. If its got cpis or shearers try 5 to 7 degrees of timing and lean the PJ down till the plugs at least get dry or burn the base plating up to 1/2 way around. 350s with 34pjs can run well and usually wont improve a ton with a bigger carb. Maybe 2 to 3hp. I like that setup and find it very easy to tune.

Sorry I didnt get back to you on this earlier. The cylinders will still be quite hot to the touch after making a pass or two. Just tune to how the plugs look. If you want to make a hard pass and kill the bike with it wound out, pull clutch in and roll to a stop. Here is what you would see.

Wet and clear alky on base and all over plug (very rich)

Wet with a browner oily look (rich but runs good)

Brown with maybe a slight bit of thick wet oil ( super safe tune 95%+)

Brown and dry (safe and running 98%)

Dry and burning some of the plating on the flat base (99.5% but might not want to hotlap or run long passes)

Some motors setup NOT real prone to detonation can run 300' passes burning the plating all the way around the base.
