sheerider11
Does it have to be blocked or couldi j ust leave it hang running down like the rear one?I'd block it just keep one less hose floating around. I've read here people solder them shut.
sleeper06
T them together and run it up by handle bars and loop it down. The hybrid I did I welded a nipple into a radiator, I also put the rad like a banshee rad is located
JMaN05
So i capped the nipple on the top of the head. After riding for a little over an hr. Air was hissing out for about 5 mins and i lost 2-4oz of coolant ouut of there also. I thought maybe it was a good thing and air was just getting out of cooling system. Like it bled. But then i thought perhaps it got too hot.. Seems like a symptom of over heating... Any idea? Do i need a better cap? Was it just bleeding? Or this overheating? Side note, what is a safe temp range on these babies
hoppedupandcutdown
Leaking from where you capped the nipple or the radiator cap? Hissing and leaking after you shut it off? Hard to follow what you're trying to tell us.
JMaN05
Everything i posted is pertaining to the vent nipple on the top of the head.
JMaN05
when i asked if i need a better cap, im referring to the nipple i cappped that i mentioned in the same post.
JMaN05
And yes. After i rode for about an hour. Upon shutting off the engine, hissing and slight leaking came from that nipple. Any ideas/help is much appreciated.
JMaN05
I am running rich at the moment. Still dialing in the jetting. But i would guess over heating relating to jetting would be if i was lean correct?
hoppedupandcutdown
I told you it was under pressure, cap it off better. It needs to seal.
n2otoofast4u
Drill/tap that nipple. Instal machine screw with sealant on threads. Wait 24hrs. Done.
JMaN05
Thanks guys. To tap it i would have to remove the head tho so no shavings fall in? Also i tried riding again today. It started leaking coolant sooner this time. Which is weird because today is 10* cooler outside. However, this time i see coolant and i cant tell where its coming from. I see dripping from the very bottom of the top coolant hose. But nothing wet above it. First thought was a loose clamp. But i tightened everythng before todays test. So i suppose it could be leaking from nipple still and just dripping down center of head onto hose. Possibility. Cause there is coolant on my frame under pipes as well. However, there is no hissing out of the nipple this time. Just coolant. I would second that my cap is not strong enough under pressure. I used a rubber cap and zip tie. Altho, i did use the same caps to seal off vaccum lines for exhaust diverters on cars. Prob less pressure tho..
m671054
That cap has the same pressure against it as a fucking radiator hose. If its a vacum cap at least use the thick rubber one and not vinyl. Put a clamp on it problem solved.
