89bansheerob
What's up guys, need some advice. I have a 89 banshee, mods as far as I know are toomey t5s, pwk35s, ported stock cylinders bored 30 over, cool head, chariot intake and reeds, I may be missing something but anyways a few weeks ago it was running like a champ then last week I took it out and it started misfiring bad once it hits the powerband but it would run just fine in the lower to mid rpm range. Now I pulled out my reeds to inspect and they were not fully seated but not bad, I flipped them anyways and now there sealing better. Then I went to take it out but now it won't start, pulled the plugs(replaced last week) and held to the head and kicked over to find little to no spark. Stock coil, ngk wires, electrex cdi, and not sure on the stator. Any help would be appreciated Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

89bansheerob
I'm looking to buy a repair manual any advice on which one to buy? In the mean time can anyone tell me what wires to ohm and the specs it should be to test the stator? hoppedupandcutdown
Ignition coil should be 13.7-20.5 Ohms (red to green wire)Pickup coil should be 94-140 Ohms (white/red to white/green wire)Lighting coil should be 0.26-0.38 Ohms (black to yellow wire) http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=133650
pcampbell
I would recommend checking the output of the stator too. its a 100% way to know if the stator is doing its job. do not use a dvom for this. use a test lamp with a bulb not a led. test the lighting and test the ignition wires. the lighting will barely light the lamp when kicking over and the ignition will light up bright. the pick up coil is for spark timing and a scope is the best thing to use to test that. the output of the stator is not a dc voltage and it will be inaccurate with a dvom. machinegunbanshee
Had a similar problem a few months back. Turned out I had a bad connection to the coil. Only reason I say that is I had the same symptoms as you described. I pinched the connector a little bit and cleaned up the contacts, problem solved. Worth a look.
