ninjamaster
OK guys I am going to get an MX bike. Just to have some fun when Im not rideing my shee. My problem Is I dont know that much about MX bikes. I do know that I dont want a speed crazed banshee. I will leave my shee the way it is for trail rideing. Since you guys say MX bikes hook up better then ATvs I want one. I seen yamaha has 4 storke MXs. I really hate high seats. I want to be able to get on and off the bike easily. I am most likely going to get a yamaha or honda. Proally a 250. I dont want something that is crazy and wants to constantly lift up. Will a larger then 250 do this like a cr 500 or kawasauki, suzuki or yamaha something over 250 Ithink in the 400s do this? If so I would get a 250. Do I weigh to much for a mx bike? What do you guys feel is the best mx bike for all out fun. I wont be jumping with it (Idont think I will anyway) It has to be controable for trails. What do you guys think? Can I use banshee rideing gear for an MX bike? To be honest with you I would love to own a CR500 but dont want something crazy fast. So manybe a 250? Is a 250 twice a 125 and a 500 twice a 250? Thanks
Banshee crazy kid
the first is the honda crf450f is so nice there is one for trade in the swap and trade forum on this site the second bike i choose is the yamaha yzf450 it's real good comp for the honda but the honda is slightly better. those should beat all of the bikes u listed,so far those two bikes i listed are the best for mx to make it them even better throw a hydrolic clutch on which ever u get. ninjamaster
I heard that these are alot of matinence. Is that true? More then a shee? How often to you rebuild the top and bottom end? Is there any kind of a honda CR forme like this one? Thanks
Banshee crazy kid
Nah my dad has the honda and it is very low maitnece. No there is not a cr version like the crf450f. Unless u want an 80cc or sumthing?but i highly doubt that, cuz u are 6'5" My dad has never had to do a rebuild yet so i cant help u there. ninjamaster
What year is your dads CR, how often does he ride it, who owned it before him. I will proally get one if they are not any more matience then a shee. I just dont want something that will nickle and dime me. I might end up buying a mission customized banshee or a stock raptor. Im going to start researching now so I end up with the right thing. I am extremly please with my banshee
Banshee crazy kid
2002..He rides it like on about 4 times a week only once in a blue moon thoe usually he rides on tha weekends..he got his bike straight from a shop in brookfield connecicuit, so no one owned it before him...maitnance is no problem the crf450 is like unstopable(not saying it will never break). My dad beats on the thing too,he will jump anything!!!!and he is 39!! sometimes we drag race but he always beats me.but that will change soon cuz im not really going hard on my shee yet..i would go with the honda im not sure if it can beat a cr500 stock but i have a good feeling for it...look at it this way---------------------------------------- (Honda+4 stroke=ur grand kids will be riding this bike still) (they last forever!!) oldbanshee
Sounds like from what your describing, you want one of the newer 250 four strokes. You want something fun but not crazy fast? How much do you weigh? And are you 6'5? Maybe a crf450 or a used yz426 then. The new yzf hits hard and is geared for the track only (it sucks for any offroad use except dunes). A 2 stroke 250 might be a little bit of a shock to you until you get used to it. And unless you have alot of time under your belt, just say no to a cr 500. I'm only 5'10 and I ride a 426. I also have alot of fun beating 2 stroke 250's on it. (And to all of the well my dad's buddy's relative's cousin's 250 would smoke it guys, BRING IT ON!) I say a newer 250 thumper, or a used 426, or crf.

I2fast4U
it is possible to ride a cr500 in the woods as long as u know wut u are doing but if u are new to bikes then i dont think it is a good idea. And u say u are 6'5 285 pounds then u can do it cause i am only 6'
