locogato11283
The shifting kind of looks like a pain in the ass.
Strm Trpr
I agree!! Yamaha almost got this thing right. I wonder how long it'll be before they pull their head's out of their ass? They have the sequential gearbox there already, why the fuck didn't they put paddle shifters on the steering wheel is beyond me. Who the fuck wants to take their hand off the steering wheel to shift when driving off-road WFO in an aftermarlket turbocharged SxS?
n2otoofast4u
You say that now. I thought the same things in the karts. But the driving experience is SOOOOOOOOO much more fun and SOOOOOO much more interactive when you get to shift!!
mailman
Belts won't hold up in the sand and heat. I think the trans is the smart way to go. Time will tell though.
Strm Trpr
I can see future mods being made to make it paddle shifts at the wheel... but i can see that shifter being a cause of a lot of accidents Exactly!!

My Jeep has them. They're impossible to use unless you're going straight. A regular shifter would be better than paddles.
ClaudeMachining
Of course, that's why formula one have paddle shifters...

And how far do they actually have to turn the wheel to turn the car? It can't be much. Take the average idiot and stick them with paddle shifters. They're useless. It can't be much. Take the average idiot and stick them with paddle shifters. They're useless. Those cars are 1/4 turn lock to lock on the wheel. The karts are a bit farther, but we fight chassis bind with too much input so it's nearly the same. Even on the tight tracks the wheel nevers turn 90 degrees at speed. That's the reason the paddle shifters are useful in them. I don't see a SxS only being only 1/4 turn either way, essentially rendering the paddle shifters useless. Even in my Jeep I can barely use them and I'm not jumping it, riding in rough terrain or trying to race someone. The wheel just turns too far for them to work. I wish Jeep had stuck with the slap shifter like my 2007.

(Hard to believe I know) but I can tell without doubt as soon as that plane goes inverted and the motions react the opposite direction from your natural reaction I'm fucked! The paddle shift with a long sweep wheel is no different. The brain cannot swap the finger control faster than hand/eye coordination can rotate the wheel. Meaning if your 180 rotated on the wheel rounding a corner and wanting to downshift your thumb is going to whack the bottom paddle. The bottom paddle at 180 out on the wheel is up! If I spin the wheel to whip the thing around its just a guess at that point. And if the shifter is at the 12 and 6 position I'd get lost so fast and stall the thing.
